As soon as that's ready we'll be working on the Ancient and Honourable Guild of Thudmeisters where acolytes can join the august company of your good selves and build a community around the game. More on that later although do feel free to start a topic and discuss. We've talked it over until very late on many a night but I'm sure we've missed out things so any suggestions would be much appreciated.
And I'd hate to disobey Mr Alley, so I thought I'd start something here (although I'm not sure whether this is the right forum, I couldn't think of anywhere more appropriate - if it'd be better elsewhere, please do move it Dewi)
It may be difficult to discuss what we expect until we know at least the basics of Dewi & Lee's ideas, but I'm sure we can come up with a few bits.
The first, as I've just discovered, is that there's nowhere on the forums for idle chat - which would probably restrict how much we got to know each other.
Another bit about the forums is avatars - there arent yet any available. While i can certainly see that Lee and Dewi's time can be spent on much more important things right now than designing pretty piccas to identify us, I'm fairly sure I've seen some places that use phpBB where you can upload pics from your own computer to use instead of picking ones from the site's gallery. Though of course that raises the level of moderation reqd, in case people abuse that.... hmmmm, this needs more thought...
I think that's all for now

Basically we want to extend the thudgame community quite widely bringing people together to play tournaments, interact, trade, etc. under one roof. Firstly we need to get the game launched (the online game, not the board game which, of course, has been around for over two years), then get the administration software ready to tie the community together via the database, then write the apps to make it cool. A lot of this is done but there is still a bit of work for ourselves and our beta testers to do to make it really easily usable.

If I could refer the honourable gentleman to the forum section called "The Thudding Drum". This is the forum pub (but sadly you have to bring your own!
) where any topic can be discussed, and any fat chewed, within generous bounds of reasonableness and decency

Hmm, yes, there shall be avatars indeed. Avatars will be moderated by Thudding drum rules (almost anything will be fine but egregious trying it on will be dealt with with a ruthlessness to make Messr Vetinari wince!
). Ones avatar will also be used during online gameplay and will be displayed elsewhere (league standings, clan member boards, etc.) so there will be a bit more to it than just whacking any ole 90x90 gif or jpg up. One will want thought, creativity and craft to be put into it thus I urge all graphicky/creativy/arty persons in the community to begin bigging yourselves up in the forum section called "The Marketplace". Your skills will be called upon.
In the same vein, there will be default style skins for the game itself. However one will also be able to buy their own skin which, when playing the game, will be displayed as the default skin for both players unless another player has a higher membership rank. Said skins will be accepted from various quarters, including community efforts, and the artist will earn a royalty from every skin sold.
Just some thing to be thinking about as we approach the launch of the online game.
A lot of this is done but there is still a bit of work for ourselves and our beta testers to do to make it really easily usable.
I look forward to it

In order to save myself from looking too foolish, I should point out that the drum was put up the morning after I posted this.

All on the best capitalist principles

Indeed, I should have said, in reply as well, that the "Thudding Drum" was created in response to the original request by Mr Scrub. Apologies; it was late
