i know i'm not wizzard, but i've got an idea for a name. well, for a part of it. i was always under the impression, that uberwald was kinda german. after all uberwald (or rather überwald) is a german word and i think moist von lipwig is also from uberwald or somewhere close to it (and the dogs, the lipwigzers or whatever they were called remind me of a german dog race, i just don't know what it's called). so how about something like the uberwaldian embassy?

edit: ok, having looked it up i now know that it's a parody on transilvania, but the language is definitely german.

nein, du hast mich falsch verstanden, death. nicht in transilvanien wird deutsch gesprochen, dass hab ich nie behauptet, sondern überwald ist deutsch. das vorbild ist zwar transilvanien, aber die sprache in überwald ist deustch, wenn du mich fragst.

das problem dabei ist, das die 'geflickte trommel' ein pub in ankh morpork ist (englisch the mended drum). statt dessen gibt es hier ja die thudding drum (die thuddende trommel).

Um mal zum ursprünglichen Thema zurückzukommen: das neue Forum als "Pub" aufzuziehen, finde ich an sich eine recht nette Idee. Aber ich weiß nicht, ob da eine zweite Trommel nicht etwas zu viel für Verwirrung sorgen würde. Mir fehlen leider zur Zeit passende Ideen dazu. Deshalb tendiere ich zu diesem Zeitpunkt definitiv zu Überwald.

Also Ich hätte auch nichts gegen einen deutschsprachigen Forumteil.

Und würde definitiv auch für Überwald stimmen (Über nicht Uber !!)

Ich denke, ich weiß, was du damit meinst. Mir gefällt da Lees Vorschlag "Überwaldean Embassy" ganz gut. Es hat Überwald drin und der "embassy"-Teil liefert einen Hinweis, was sich dahinter verbergen könnte.

Hmmm, the Oberpfalz.... It's this little part of Bavaria where all the myths and stereotypes come true. Kinda like PTerry's treatment of nursery rhymes and childrens' stories (the Elves Queendom in the Tiffany Books, the stuff in witches Abroad, etc.). Standing on the Bundesbahn platform at Batzhausen and seeing the quintessential Ur-Volk who seem to live their lives unchanged from Roman Germania just with modern clothes (sometimes!) and houses. I spoke excellent German at the time and could speak with most Bavarians I had met but I couldn't understand anyone over 50 in the town (and I think they thought of me as a sort of walking monkey of mediocre intelligence! ) It's that space between Neumarkt and Regensburg, and the A9 to the Czech border. I never saw any vampires but I'm sure they're there somewhere (maybe in that cool goth/grufti club in Passau.... )

Anyway...

So are we agreed on the Ueberwaldian Embassy? (with umlaut of course! I will learn what to do to type the damn umlauts! I promise )?

Wollt mich auch mal beim Thema beteiligen.

Ich bin prinzipiell auch dafür das einzurichten
(hätte gar nicht erwartet so viele hier zu treffen
die Deutsch können)

Die Idee mit dem Namen Überwald find ich gut, aber
das mit der Botschaft finde ich nicht unbedingt
gut, das ganze klingt zumindest für mich zu politisch,
auch wenns ja gar nix damit zu tun hat.

Mal schaun ob mir noch was einfällt was man ansonsten
dafür verwenden könnte...

um der Idee mit dem deutschsprachigen Forum nochmal etwas Antrieb zu verleihen, würde ich vorschlagen, hier im Forum noch ein Paar Vorschläge für einen Namen des dt. Forums abzugeben.

Ich werde die Vorschläge sammeln und anschließend einen Poll anwerfen um sozusagen die Mehrheitsmeinung zu ermitteln.

Bis jetzt sind hier, soweit ich gesehen hab, folgende Vorschläge aktuell:

Überwald
Überwaldean Embassy
Überwaldische Botschaft

und von mir dann vielleicht noch
Botschaft Überwald
(wenn es denn was mit Botschaft im Namen sein soll)

Also Ich warte auf weitere Vorschläge und werde am Freitag
den Poll starten.

Also "Botschaft Überwald" hat meiner Meinung nach irgendwie wenig Zusammenhang. Wie wärs mit einem von drin? Botschaft von Überwald?

Mal kann es sein, dass in dem post-Modernismus kann eine Botschaft die vershiedene Leute repraesentieren. Etwas fur eine Regierung is nicht notwendiger weise noetig. Adorno und Horkheimer wurden begeistert gewesen sein!

Aber auch ist eine idee zum Kompromiss: "Überwald Abstinenz Liga". Riesen gut street cred und cool Kleidung gibt es, aber ist es trotzdem etwas stigmatisch

Edit: (everyone else has kindly translated their stuff except me ) I could be that in a post-modern age an embassy could represent the people rather than a gov't. Having a government [involved] isn't entirely necessary. Horkheimer and Adorno (who wrote the archetypal post-modern tome) would have been pleased by the concept.

Also, a compromise might be to name it the Überwald Temperance League. There would be fantastic clothing and street cred but also a but of a stigma around it.

But anyway, what do you all want to name it? It's your forum and the choice is yours

In der englischen Version heist das Tal "Koom Valley" in der deutschen wird offenbar vom Koomtal oder Tal von Koom gesprochen.

Soweit dazu, hier nochmal die Aktuellen Vorschläge für den Namen des Forums:

Überwald
Überwaldean Embassy
Überwaldische Botschaft
Botschaft von Überwald
Koomtal oder Tal von Koom ?*
Werwolf Pub
Überwald Abstinenz Liga (Überwald Temperance League)

* war das Kommtal/commtal vieleicht gar kein verschreiber sondern ein Hinweis auf Kommunikation ?

So ich warte noch auf weitere Vorschläge. Nicht Vergessen, der Poll startet Morgen also last mal eure Kreativität ein wenig spielen !

Vielleicht noch ein Vorschlag von mir:

"Der springende Werwolf - eine Überwald Kneipe" (oder ein Überwald Gasthof? Kling in Englisch vielleicht noch einen Tick cooler: "The leaping Werwolf - An Überwald Pub" )

Also, da würde ich das "- eine Überwald Kneipe" dann weglassen. Bloß "Der springende Werwolf" finde ich zumindest besser.
Das mit dem Werwolf Pub war eigentlich nicht ernstgemeint, aber lass es mal drinn... schaden tuts ja nicht.
Ich überleg noch, vielleicht fällt mir ja noch was ein.
