Re: sergant lettuce
I don't know if that was meant to be commical or a call to arms against me but I think I'll assuemthe later as going to the length of creating a forum to discuss my...presence seems rather weighty. I have never seen a forum with rules or even curtesy rules agaist posting an opinion or talking to people unless they are in themselves derogatory posts (which have been reserved for "the duel").
No-one has yet found me to be an irritation (I hope)...except for myself and Ook dueling on other fora but we shall rectify this forthewith (My appologies also btw I should have known better) Nor do I go around undermining other memebers or lording myself. This is perhaps the first time I've been surrounded by people who enjoy pratchett and boardgames and are capable of intelligent conversation all the same time so I try to interact. and while yes I am 22nd ranked (I'll admit that gives me a fuzy feeling) posting for the sake of posting would cheapen my comments and as far as I know prestige is the only thing I can use the points for and I'm a LONG way away from the high scores. I believe that points are no substitute for tenure but even so, (I checked some profiles) many members here that contribute to the same fora i...contribute...to have only been here a few months (even if I've been here less than 5 days) it's still a long way from years old memebers. One such example would be Ook who has been here only 2 weeks and has more than twice my point count[nothing personal buddy/nemesis]. So you see I'm not the only case just the most recent. Besides If it was the points I could also have rounded up my friends to sign up[ and join the ranks on the HUMDREDS of "memebrs" with 0 points. I'm not saying they don't contribute but I'm sure some of them, no-one has heard off here. Also I've started (somewhat slowly) a Thudgame with Ook and have started on the long road of legitimisation. I hope to be just as respected a pratchett and thud enthusiast as everyone else here eventually and I would have thought that aximising interaction would be a good way to meet the other members and be integrated de-facto. And besides When someone plays a game of thud each move surely contributes to their points so I'd say a good game of thud would earn many tens of points in fact Magrat appears to be playing two games simultaniously which no doubt will cause a boost in her points that would take others months to cath up on. and commenting, in comparison, would be worthless. So until I start playing a lot of games which I won't until I've gained some skill there really is no validity to the claim that I'm only here for the points.
So if I've caused trouble I'm sorry.
That ain't no English I ever dun heard!
Re: sergant lettuce
bravo, well said,i defend sgt L on this one,we tend to have quite intelligent conversation a lot of the time,we just hide it with ugly comments about each others' weaknesses.but we do not do it for the points,i just like to have the last word and express myself, and i've got lots of time on my hands

It's always good to take the former as read until presented with evidence to the contrary. If that happens quite a few will come to your defence. If they don't the admins will. No one abuses someone else on our sites!
But I read it as being a gentle tease and a bit ironic, much like the posts between yourself and ook (which I found superbly amusing over the holidays; I got many laughs off them. Cheers!
)

Nope, no apology needed! You nice folks (all of you, really
) come on and post content. That's what a forum is for. Really you don't get that many points for posting (and as you said, there isn;t much to spend them on (...yet!
) but soon people will be earning more points for playing a night of thud than the Sarge and ook have earned altogether so there's no danger of them getting too rich.
Besides, when cities kick off points will be taxed to prevent hoarding
So carry on posting, move to an appropriate forum (everyone, not just the SArge and ook) when straying off topic and enjoy the site! We're very laisser faire about most things. if someone steps out of line we'll let them know but otherwise we prefer to stay out of things and let folks have fun!
Happy Thudding!

Re: sergant lettuce
Of course I don't blame you for anything and at first I thought it was a jest too but I just wasn't clear if I had upset anyone. I shouldn't have jamped at it. my bad. all forgiven.
and the next time you or anyone posts a comment like that it would help to put a smiley on the end...smileys have diplomatic abilities that Henry Kissinger would balk at
besides it's been like two days and my name is still on the new forum topics list. it's like payed advertising but without the paying

Long ago I learnt that the price I have to pay for my sense of humor toward others is to put aside my pride and see the humor in others' jests at my expense, as is only fair. It keps the wheels turning and after all, what is one man beside the grandeu and import that is humor?

"Tiddles!" bellowed Moist. He wished he hadn't. It was such a stupid name to shout in a burning building.
An explosion of soup made the bumblebee fly, so I'm told.
