Not exactly client/server - but where else should I post?

Hi techie peeps (I can't believe I've just typed that!)

Whilst my query is not client/server related in terms of the thudgame live thingemy, I am having problems with the web page doo-dah.

My wife has updated the computer to IE7 (Wondering why I cried Nooo!). Since then I have had a hard time finding the bit to type in to reply to my forum game. It appears that the frame for responding is kind of squashed over to the right and really thin, 1 letter thin so everything reads vertically. Cool if you read Chinese or something, but I don't.

The typing bit - somewhere in the middle of a now really long page scroll across ways - so I guess theres some positioning thingy that perhaps I need to reset in IE7 - but can't find anything that helps.

Any clues?

Regards

Cy

Hi Cyclo,
The current site theme contains a lot of hacks to make it render correctly on browsers that don't play by the rules (AKA Internet Explorers 5, 5.5 and 6). The problem with that is that IE7 fixed most of the deficiencies of the previous browsers but did so in ushc a way as to make such sites break when viewed in IE7. Nice. Thanks Mr Gates.Sad

The good news is we have planned to upgrade the site backend software this week (given a good sea and a following wind...) and with that we have a new, stripped down template theme that preserves the HTML code order (actually it's rather better! Wink) whilst not relying on CSS hacks for cross-browser layout function (i.e. it should work in every browser with the exception of Netscape 4 [don't care!] and Opera 5). Very importantly it should work with IE7.

Give us a few days and we should be looking better to you Very Happy

Yay - your latest tweaking seems to have sorted it out - I can play forum Thud without frustration again, well, At least with only the frustration of being not very good at it.

Welldone Techie blokes and/or blokettes.
