NaNoWriMo update
So here's the mid-month report. I am committed to write a 50,000 word novel by the end of November. As of this moment, I have written 17,728 words. Exactly.
The very observant among you will note that tomorrow is November 15. By half way through the month, one certainly would hope to have written half one's 50,000 words. But one has not. Not even close.
Should one worry? Depends. The goal is not 50,000 *good* words, just 50,000 words. The 17,728 I have written so far are certainly not *good* writing, so we're off to a good start there. There just need to be more of them.
Should one be writing one's novel instead of writing a report to one's friends? Absolutely! See you later...

are you gonna publish this novel afterwards? or is it free for everyone to see on the net of inter any way?

Well, the overt purpose is to write a *bad* novel. A good one can't be written in this fashion, needless to say. But the idea is that it's better than not writing any novel at all. At least, theoretically.
So, few are the NaNoWriMo novelists who are willing to let anyone actually read their "novel" when they get through...hard to say...we'll see (first I would have to have time to read it again, and see what it says...)
Today's word count: 21,127
Re: NaNoWriMo update
Closing in on it here. The end of November, not the 50,000 words. A long way to go for that.
I climbed up over 35,000 this morning, but 15,000 in four days is a bit much. I'm going to try to do 4000 more today (did 2000 already), and that will put me back in contention.
Repetitititititive stress is an issue...but I haven't given up yet!
I DID IT!
I did it, I did it, I did it! My first novel! and WOW, is it bad...
Hit 50,000 words at precisely 2:25 this afternoon - a whole ten hours to spare! Can't believe it.
Whee. I can recommend this experience to anybody, but you have to be crazy to try. Which is why I thought this crowd might be interested.
And Ponder, I posted an excerpt of my novel (sic) on the NaNoWriMo website, here:

if you want to read it. Some young lady from Aberdeen already had Magrat for a username. So I had to be Magrattoo...
