I sure did - We got most of the Hogswatch shopping done, and got to go drinking in Newcastle (than drinking a bit more). I even saw some Thudboards for sale in Borders at Team Valley, but strangely none in Forbidden Planet.

Nice one! I've checked my local Borders for Thudboards once or twice, but never found any there. Or anywhere else for that matter.

I was impressed with that shop, but equally disappointed that a shop called 'mind games', which had loads of little curiosities and an excellent chess table, didn't have any thudboards. It did give me an idea though. Now I just need to find a large enough octagonal table to paint up!

Sounds cool. My personal thudboard is really just cobbled together from an old game of battleships I had lying around. On the plus side, It came with its own grid, although confusingly enough it has an I row between H and J Row's.

Now That sounds like an interesting Thudboard! I wonder if we could persuade the admins on the site to put on something like a 'Leonard of Quirm's Quirky Thudboard Qompetition' to post pics of custom boards like yours.

I never noticed there wasn't an I file. Heh!

It may sound interesting, but realy its just a bunch of red and white pegs unevenly placed over four 10x10 pegboards, with plastic ships denoting the borders. One day I have to get around to colouring the off squares so I can see the diagonals propperly.

Ooh... You're making me blush. and now I can't think of a sentence of multisyllabic words to respond with. Need to find a thesaurus... On the plus side it did motivate me to finish the darn thing. With propper borders and a checkered surface it's starting to look pretty cool. Gotta take a photo now to upload.

It sounds like an artifact in it's own right! How is it held together? My knowledge and skills in creative craft never really made it much beyond PVA glue and sticky-backed plastic!

It's held together by battleships placed across the gaps between the boards. I'm too lazy to propperly stick it together.

Excellent counterplay! Torpedo Trolls - who would have thunk it?

Mind you, they would have to make 5 hits to sink the Dwarf's flagship, 4 for a carrier of the mighty flying axe squadron, 2 hits for the ships with a grag making cursing beep noises to locate the trolls (is that a frigthat?)

It's when the trolls counter with their attack choppers that things will get really scary. Stuck on a boat between a flying mass of vengeful rock and the ocean is not a position I'd relish finding myself.

Sounds like we'd need to draft in a platoon of Stealth Adventure Stunties (SAS) to counter those.

Many apologies for my overly extended absense. Out net decided to pack it in shortly after my final essays were due and has been out ever since. It looks like it's come back on this morning however, for no reason I can gather other than luck. So hopefully it should be better now.

Typical Luck. The day after the internet came back on we had a power surge or something which fried my computer. Many apologies, but I'm going to be rather scarce over the next month until I can get it or a replacement working.

The beauty of play by forum is that it can wait

and wait

for as long as is needed.

The moderators don't like it when it gets to months later though.

Your choice - we can give it up completely, start a new one when you have your machine sorted, or continue (I could send you the savegame) when you have unfried it.

I'll check this post every now and then to see your response.

We can keep going, I'll just be rather sporadic in my posting until january. Like once or twice a week or some such frequency, if that doesn't bother you.
