Hogswatch!

Founding PatronLibrarianDruidThudmeister

I've just noticed the official announcement of this years Hogswatch festivities (see this event page). I went for the first time last year, and enjoyed myself immensely: not only was that the last time I've played a serious game of thud against a person I could see, but there was some rather fine liquid accompaniment as well.

So, although early december is looking potentially very busy this year I'm going to try to get down for at least one day - anyone else planning to come?

As i have made it to all the others so i plan 2 be there this Hogswatch and in answer to Ponders question its in Wincanton which is in somerset.

Note for possible newcomers most of the accommodation in and around Wincanton has already been booked by the regulars if you have not been b4 don't expect to find accommodation easily you need to find it well advance i think that for the hardier souls there will be camping at the racecourse available and sometimes the Green Dragon lets people camp on the floor of the shop but for more info check out http://www.artificer.co.uk/ and i think there has been a thread about Hogswatch accommodation on the stamp forum http://www.discworldstamps.co.uk somewhere in the kitchen table section i think but i am not sure exactly where.

I'll be there, but staying at the in-laws an hour away or so. Ponder it's worth giving the shop a call and asking if they have more information about camping inside the Green Dragon, or somehwere else in town, for the weekend.

Probably a day-tripper

Yeah - I'm all too aware of the accomodation problems, so I'm thinking of doing one day again. This has the added advantage of giving me a bit of flexibility - I can decide more-or-less the day before whether to go or not, which (given how stressful the beginning of december is looking) may be neccessary...

On that note, I heard last year about a courtesy bus running to Gillingham station and back (of course, I heard too late to stop me ruining Lee's evening taking me to and from stations Sad). Does anyone know if it'll be running this year?

a) which shop would this be?
b) i don't like sleeping in dragons
c) got a spare room? Very Happy

ok the last one was a bit silly but a and b i think are reasonable

That would be the Cunning Artificer's Discworld Emporium, High St Wincanton, Somerset - Tel: 01963-824686 Very Happy

Sheesh, students nowadays... don't know they're born! Just think of the pulling points you'd have when you could say "I've slept inside a real dragon! T'was comfy, warm and I slept the night thru and had breakfast on 'im the next day!" Shocked Very Happy

Unfortunately, this Dragon is an antique shop so the only thing to get burned there would be bits of the full English breakfast the next morning (well, it may not be burned but as I understand it, burned bits are de rigeur, c'est ne pas? Wink)

Yes, but sadly it's here in South Morpork, 121 miles away in the wrong direction Rolling Eyes

Hang on! Ponder, you're a student; what's all this stuff about sleeping?? Laughing
