Announcement: ThudBoard version 1.7

Bronze Member

Hiyall,

Version 1.7 is released.

This one is known as the '1-mouse-button-to-rule-them-all'-release...
The reason: you can no longer use the right mouse button to capture pieces, you can just do that with the left button.

Full change-log:

  1. Capturing pieces no longer works with the right mouse button, but with the left one. This means that you can't end your move by picking up another piece to move, you have to click on an empty area somewhere to end the move so you can start a new one.

  2. A Dutch version now exists, see www.million.nl/thudboard-nl.
  3. There's a Mac OS X package.
  4. Empty lines in .thud files are ignored.
    [reported by Oograh Boike]

  5. You can now drop a .thud file on the application and it will be opened directly. In other words, a command-line argument is now accepted.

You can download it from http://www.million.nl/thudboard .
The Czech version can be found at http://www.million.nl/thudboard-cz .
The Dutch version can be found at http://www.million.nl/thudboard-nl .
Any feedback is appreciated, as always.

Happy Thudding and ThudBoarding,

Marc Boeren

Marc,

After having played around with Thudboard 1.7 on the Mac for several weeks now, I've got to say it's pretty good.

The only criticism I have is the one-mouse-click feature. I still miss the right-click to capture method, but if the goal is to make it more accessible by going with a one-button control, I get that. But it's still a nuisance to have to remember when my dwarfs are getting captured to click somewhere else before I move (or Thudboard takes away another dwarf). What would happen if capturing was done with a double-click?

Just a thought. I'm still very grateful for the excellent program, *and* for the OS X release!
