The deal with W, as we like to call him, is that he doesn't know before he tries, and he doesn't know after, either. Not one for learning from mistakes, or, in fact. for learning at all...

but on a cheerier subject, any clues on what we might be looking forward to in the client? There are lots of things I would like, but I always hesitate to ask, you know, because...well, what we have is pretty nice. Is it a surprise, or are you going to tell us? :

Ok, we've slipped back down to high 300's or so. Our Russian femme fatales gave me an idea: dunno why some people reg then never actviate their membership (except, like said ladies, perhaps to leave their e-mail and ICQ address, etc. just in case...) but I decided to look at how many "dead" memberships we have. We looked in the database for all users that had reg'd but never activated their membership and found 66 of them so I've deleted everyone that's done this up until the beginning of March.

Now some did this because they were clumsy and obviously entered their e-mail address in incorrectly. Others screwed up their username and reg'd again immediately afterward. We've recently started deleting the copy that doesn't get activated. Some probably had their reg e-mail lost in a spam trap or in a chaotci inbox so que sara.

At current levels we should be back above 400 around the end of the tourney. Afte that we expect it to go absolutely librarian-poo!

Good news! Moving the forum sent us way over 400 users right away. We shut down registrations on the website a coupla weeks before the changeover (OK, we made them difficult... some people still found ways around) but the folk who registered still put us way over 400. Next stop: 1000!

I had been wondering why there were suddenly sometimes around 50 guests according to the new stats box you chaps have put in (swift service around here ). If we've suddenly seen much more interest, that'd explain why

There is, but, for anti-spam and other reasons, only accessible by admins. I can confirm that our 481st member joined about an hour and a half ago.
