Wouldnt it be great if you could get a thud board made out of stone board
and stone or matel pieces.Also why dosen't anyone try and arrange a real life game of Thud: with trolls as large brawny men,and dwarfs as kids. ![]()

David Hodges (Hodgesaargh) has organised this very thing a coupla times in the past and, I believe, will be doing this again at Wadfest this summer. Watch the site for futher info. If you, or anyone else, would like to stage your own real-life Thudgame I can provide you with his e-mail address. He keeps the equipment for it at his place.

wow! that'd be as great as that real table football with people strapped to poles some nutters do! (though id probably want to watch from a safe distance
)
"Tiddles!" bellowed Moist. He wished he hadn't. It was such a stupid name to shout in a burning building.
An explosion of soup made the bumblebee fly, so I'm told.
can you buy a thud board like you can buy a chess board?

you can buy the original game from most decent shops.
I'm Meeeellllllltttttiiiiiiiinnnnnggggg!!!!!
We should point out that you can buy the original easily in the UK, perhaps. In the New world it is another matter. Don't know about the rest of Europe, maybe others can help with that. In the US we must personally import at huge expense.
Cheaper to download Thudboard, the virtual one, to see how it is, get a big sheet of paper, and go crazy with markers. Coins work fine for pieces, since there need be only two kinds.

That's more or less what I did, although I went all uber-geeky and printed my own in WordPerfect, using glass beads (Mancala, maybe?) for pieces. Then my interest surpassed that of my wife, and I wound up having to play pretty much all online...

The other thing to mention is this: if you can't find the actual board in any local shops, go over to shop.thudgame.com, from where you can get it delivered to your home/cave/mine... (and doing it this way, I suspect, it might make Lee and Dewi a penny or two, which is always a good thing)
