The Ook Programming language :-)

Founding PatronLibrarianDruidThudmeister

I don;t know if anyone's come across this before, but I've just discovered the Ook! Programming language (see also this wikipedia page).

Essentially it's a version of Brainf*ck with the 8 single-character commands of BF replaced by 8 different combinations of the 3 librarian-friendly commands:
Ook.
Ook?
and
Ook!

As it's so closely based on BF, it's of course fully Turing Complete, so can (theoretically) accomplish any task that any computer currently in existance could achieve (tho it might take a little longer to write, for non-orangutans Wink)
And no mention of monkeys anywhere! Very Happy

It seems to have poor support for devices like drives and printers...
I think I'll wait for Ook!++ (Ook! Ook. Ook. except that the first Ook! will give the parser a problem). BTW, ignoring whitespace? A well timed silence can bear a lot of meaning, so making Ook! Ook. the same as Ook! _ Ook. seems to rob the language of the possibility to make short and well formulated algorithms. (The _ is just there because the webbrowser decided to remove the extra spaces.) Rolling Eyes

Don't forget to take a banana(nananananana) and cover your head with an old green dressing gown for full effect
