well i just joined and i dont really know how to play so if anyone's up for a game unlimited and single im here!!

Hello, Count, and welcome. I would be happy to play a game with you. Would you like to start with dwarves? If at some point you want to redo a move because you're just getting started with Thud, that's fine. We're all here to have fun.
If you haven't downloaded Thudboard, the applet that allows you track your moves on your computer, I recommend it.

Thanks accepting the game Magrat. i dont know much about the strategies, but i haven't got the patience to read the topics on them so some of my moves may seem random. i'm going to try a few things, see what works!

Well, this sounds like fun. But unfortunately, your first move is not a legal one. A single dwarf can only take a troll which is sitting on a space right next to the dwarf, something that doesn't often happen. A line of two dwarves can "hurl" the front-most dwarf at a troll two spaces away and take it. A line of three can hurl three spaces, and so on. But a single dwarf can't capture from many squares away.
Just as a tip, everyone finds playing dwarves very frustrating, because they are at quite a disadvantage. You may get frustrated, but so does everyone. Don't worry - you'll be trolls soon enough.
So. Want to try another move?
