The proprietors of Thudgame.com are pleased to announce the purchase of Thudgame.com and Online Thud by Google, Inc. of MountainView, California. Google, the leader in search technology and Internet advertising placement said, "The fit between Google and Thudgame is entirely complementary. Thudgame will form an integral part of our stragtegy to take the gaming world by storm, winning attention share over with superior technology and an extensible platform. We are expecting nothing but the best from the two guys from Thudgame in the same way that the two guys who founded Google have gone to reach stellar heights."
To celebrate this momentous event the Thudgame crew have released a celebratory version of the Thud client especially for the community for whom they have the highest respect, affection and candour. Lee Alley is quoted as saying, "This site is all about the Thud community worldwide! Many people coming here to play the game and interact with one another without agenda or politics and with an atmosphere of tolerance and respect is a model for communities everywhere. I can't say enough in praise of this group of people or express our appreciation sufficiently to do them credit." Dewi Morgan is quoted as saying, "It's a great honour to have been a part of creating something that's brought so many together and created so much joy for a superb group of people. The Google deal gives us the ability and the reach to extend this to likeminded people everywhere. And if we take down Microsoft or Sony a notch or two that will be icing on the cake."
A Google spokeperson said that Thudgame.com would continue as it has for the time being and that the foreseeable roadmap of changes would be primarily tidying up the current development routines and roadmap and accelerating the deployment of additions to the stable of game clients and game client skins. "We expect the userbase to expand tremendously thus will be bulking out the hosting and delivery technology including a Java2ME mobile phone client so that people can play Thud! anywhere at anytime on any device they choose. Oh, and don't be evil...even if you find yourself being a troll." Undisclosed sources also spoke of AI clients for mobiles and iPods but this remains unconfirmed.
