I'm sure I'm just doing something wrong but I've just spent about 2 hours going through my firewall trying to get access to the 'Play Thud Now' section and I'm having no luck.
All I get is a blank screen and lots of blocked IP addresses in my firewall log, I'm reluctant to allow any in case they are dodgy programs and nothing to do with this website
Please help!! ![]()

You need Java enabled preferabley one of the later versions of Java not sure if the site is run from more than one IP tho maybe Dewi or Lee can help later if it is an IP problem. Spammers have been trying to abuse the site and action has been taken against IP's that the spamming has come from so there is a very small chance that if your system was/is a spammers Zombie that your IP has been blocked from accessing the site but i think unlikey as it sounds like your system is well protected. So suggest you try checking Java first.
Wotcha, I'm a pretty new thud player. A friend downloaded a thud board for me (from this site) but for some reason when a piece is taken during a game, it doesn't always delete, I've tried dragging it off the board but it pops up again next time I click on the board. I would love to play online but want to get rid of these nuisances first.
I was playing Aine the other night and ended up with a few more pieces more than I should have.
Re:
My understanding gytha fiona is that you are running thudboard 1.5 on windows ME
I have just checked the thudboard pages and here is a link to http://www.py2exe.org/ which is from my understanding a kind of host program to the thudboard app and on this page is
For Windows 95/98/Me, you need the Microsoft Layer for Unicode on Windows 95/98/ME Systems (MSLU) dll from here (Internet Explorer is required to download it: Scroll down to the Win95/98/Me section).
Download and run the self-extracting unicows.exe file, and copy the unpacked unicows.dll file in the directory which contains your python.exe. Note that this is only needed on the machine where you want to build executables with py2exe, it is not required on the machine where you want to run the created programs.
If you use py2exe to build COM clients or servers, win32all build 163 (or later) is strongly recommened - it contains much better support for frozen executables.
after reading that you might have to reinstall the python app linked to on the page and the mickey soft unicode fix but you will have to do it from within IE not via firefox.
SA
after reread of the the above linked page try the unicode fix via IE first if that does not work the try downloading the latest py2exe
