One of the first things I want to know about people is what sort of music they enjoy, since music has such a big effect on me. So, without further ado, I'd like to ask anyone to post the lyrics of the last song they listened to, or a favourite set of lyrics if you'd rather (bear in mind tho that a wonderful song may not have the best lyrics - advocate your top bands through their finest words
)
For me the last song i heard was Blink 182's "Adam's Song" (blink aren't entirely typical of the style of music I usually listen to, but this is a damn good song, with great words too):
I never thought I'd die alone
I laughed the loudest who'd have known?
I traced the cord back to the wall
No wonder it was never plugged in at all
I took my time, I hurried up
The choice was mine I didn't think enough
I'm too depressed to go on
You'll be sorry when I'm gone
I never conquered, rarely came
16 just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over we'd survived
I couldn't wait till I got home
To pass the time in my room alone
I never thought I'd die alone
Another six months I'll be unknown
Give all my things to all my friends
You'll never set foot in my room again
You'll close it off, board it up
Remember the time that I spilled the cup
Of apple juice in the hall
Please tell mum this is not her fault
I never conquered, rarely came
16 just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over we'd survived
I couldn't wait till I got home
To pass the time in my room alone
I never conquered, rarely came
Tomorrow holds such better days
Days when I can still feel alive
When I can't wait to get outside
The world is wide, the time goes by
The tour is over, I've survived
I can't wait till I get home
To pass the time in my room alone
Sometimes even songs about suicide can leave you joyful, and that triumphant last chorus does just that.

Ah wot a good song, if a little depresing. and good topic i might add!
this is a coincidink but the last "song" i listened to was an instrumental! lol. It was "Big 'orra (losfer words)" by Iron Maiden (off Powerslave album). well i suppose there is a few lyrics...
"one, two, one, two three four!" dum i di dum i dum di dum etc etc.
MAIDEN ROCK! anyone agree?
Im mainly into classic rock, rock, metal and heavy metal, with bits of punk in there as well. so quite broad.

Ooooh, that's a broad category Mr Scrub
I just read Soul Music again recently (much better the second time for some reason!) so the underlying irony of your question is lovely
Today has featured Crowded House, Bent, Faithless, Johny Cash and Julee Cruise. A friend of mine, however, is writing a treatise on British and American ID card plans. Having been at his house earlier, the thing in the head at the moment is The Who's "Who Are You?"
"I know there's a place you walked
Where love falls from the trees
My heart is like a broken cup
I only feel right on my knees
I spit out like a sewer hole
Yet still recieve your kiss
How can I measure up to anyone now
After such a love as this?
So who are you...."
Achingly wonderful!

i know ive lready posted here but i have discovered an awesome band which i need to tell people about, if you don't already know of course...
They are a newish band called Dragonforce, their music is a cross between metal, thrash, techno amongst other things - called "speed metal" i believe. Any way they are awesome and i would recommend them if you are into bands such as Iron maiden and such like.
Last song: through the fire and the flames, by dragonfoce:
On a cold winter morning,
In the time before the light,
In flames of death's eternal reign,
We ride towards the fight.
When the darkness is falling down
In the times of tough or right,
The sound of evil laughter
Falls around the world tonight.
Fighting hard, fighting on for the steel,
Through the wastelands evermore,
The scattered souls will feel the hell,
That is wasted on the shores.
On the blackest wings in hell's terrain,
We watch the lands become,
In fire and pain, and once again we know.
So now we're flying we're free,
We're free before the thunderstorm,
On towards the wilderness,
Our quest carries on.
Far beyond the sundown and far beyond the moonlight,
Deep inside our hearts and all our souls.
So far away we wait for the day,
For the light source so wasted and gone,
We feel the pain of a lifetime lost in a thousand days,
Through the fire and flames we carry on.
As the red day is dawning
and the lightning cracks the sky,
They raise their hands to the heavens above
Who'll descend unto their lies.
Running back through the midmorning light,
There's a burning in my heart,
We're banished from the time in the foreign land,
To a light beyond the stars.
In your blackest dreams see to the need, that destiny is tied,
And endlessly we're roaming free tonight.
And on the wings of a dream, so far beyond reality,
All alone in desperation, now the time has gone,
Lust inside you'll never find, lust within my own mind,
Day after day this misery must go on.
So far away we wait for the day,
For the light source so wasted and gone,
We feel the pain of a lifetime lost in a thousand days,
Through the fire and flames we carry on.
Woooaaah-ooaah-oah, Woooaah-ooaah-oah,
Woooaaah-ooaah-ooaah-ooaah-oah,
Woooaaah-ooaah-oah, Woooaah-ooaah-oah,
Woooaaah-ooaah-ooaah-ooaah-oah,
[Musical Interlude]
Now here we stand with their blood on our hands,
We fought so hard, now can we understand,
I'll break the seal of this curse if I possibly can,
For freedom of every man!
So far away we wait for the day,
For the light source so wasted and gone,
We feel the pain of a lifetime lost in a thousand days,
Through the fire and flames we carry on!

YAT-KHA is the newest revelation for me.
It's Mongolian rock with traditional instruments and loads of throath singing.
Also Jorge Reyes, TUU, Laszlo Hortobagy (or something like that) and Lights in a fat city are bands I like to waste my time on.
So the last lyrics I listened to were something along the lines of:
AAWEUEEEEEHRAWAIEEEEEEEEEERGHhh...
I know... It sounds painfull, but it's actually quite reviving.
And you don't need to waiste time trying to find out what the theme of the song might be !!
Thanks for wasting your time...

Being weird requires a state of mind that can only be achieved after years of intensive training, and can only be achieved by those who live their lifes according to the principal and ancient wisdom of the secluded order of the loonsing squirrel that said the historic words:
"One shall only be upon his way from the moment one is upon his bike"
Thanks for wasting your time...
One day I will build a fountain
Drink and never grow old
Then I'll market an elixir
that will eliminate the common cold
Find your sickness on my list
Pay up front and make a wish
One day I will work with animals
All the tests I'm gonna do
All my stuff's completely natural
And when we're done we'll boil 'em
down for glue
that we can use to re-adhere
your lips to mine if you were here
There's a lot I will never do
Some fantastic, I know it's true
But none as much as my want to be with you
I can't stand to wait in line long
So I built a new machine
It just measures up the distance
and then eliminates the folks between
One day I'll construct a satellite
and I'll name it after you
'Cause you were the greatest friend of all
except for when you split my lip in two
To see the look upon your face
as I launch you into space
There's a lot I will never do
Some fantastic, I know it's true
But none as much as my want to be with you
Bye-bye self-respect
I haven't had much of it since you left
I missed out on the best of you
Some day I will find the secret
to your social chemistry
Then I'll print it on a t-shirt
and it'll make you want to be with me
If I wear it past your work
you'll see other guys are jerks
Much like pheromones for flies
you will not avoid my eyes
There's a lot I will never do
Some fantastic, I know it's true
But none as much as my want to be with you
Bye-bye self-respect
I haven't had much of it since you left
I missed out on the best of you

Find yourself a girl and settle down,
live a simple life in a quite town,
steady as she goes, steady as she goes,
so steady as she goes
Your friends have shown a kink in the single life,
You've had to much to think, now you need a wife
steady as she goes, steady as she goes,
so steady as she goes, well here we go again,
you've found yourself a friend who knows you well,
but no matter what you do you always feel as though you tripped and fell...

Inside outside, under my skin
Never ending love I don’t know where it begins?
I don’t know where it ends, I don’t know how high
I don’t know how deep, I don’t know how wide
Outside inside around the world
Never ending love envelops me like a cloud
I feel you in front, I feel you behind
I feel you up above, And I feel you at the side
And you, you’re all over me, you’re all over me
Your banner is over me, I give it all ‘cos
You still captivate me, fascinate me
You still captivate me, saturate me
Inside outside, pulling me in
No matter where I run I know you’ll never give in
I see you in the storm, I see you in a kiss
I’ve been around the world and never found a love like this
You’re all over me, you’re all over me
You’re everything I want to be
I’m all over you, you’re everything I want to see
You’re all over me
You, still captivate me, fascinate me
You still captivate me, saturate me
You still captivate me, liberate me
You still captivate me

History Maker is my favourite song from that album - amazing song. But I think that Mission Bell (the latest) is brilliant though. There's samples on myspace.com and it does beat some of their other latest stuff.

Ok, I'll weigh in now, but I don't know about quoting song lyrics...
My wife and I were talking the other day about how difficult it is to have defined musical tastes these days.
When we were kids, you had a set number of choices: Hard Rock, Soft Rock, Heavy Metal, and Country. (Not to discount Jazz, Blues, Classical, etc., but those were the mainstream options for people 'of a certain age.') Now there are so many subsets and crossover acts that it's pretty much impossible to stick to a single genre. Add the Napster experience to the mix, and the realization that you no longer have to limit yourself to buying albums -- you can pick and choose whatever you like.
So that having been said, I've got a lot of stuff floating in my playlists. I've got some mainstream stuff like Dave Matthews, Barenaked Ladies (being Canadian, I can legitimately claim to have been a fan since before they were big), and U2. On the other hand, I've recently gone back to my 80s roots with Billy Idol and Oingo Boingo. Ben Folds is a staple at home, and so is Cake. I've also lately had a lot of fun downloading and discovering the Mr. T Experience. But the centre of the collection has to be They Might Be Giants.

I know what you mean. Though I think that styles now are more defined by the people that like them - like emo and indie and chav - then split up more like scremo, if you know what I mean. Or am I just talking twaddle?

I think that George Orwell would appreciate the irony that the English language is evolving so fast these days with additions that some of us cant keep up please expand on emo, indie and scremo i thought i knew indie but it seems to have changed context.

emo is emotional rock - a little like gothic stuff, they're supposed to cut themselves and stuff bands include funeral for a friend, bullet for my calentine and lost prophets (tho they're new metal/emo) to explain further there's the 'Emo Song', complete with video to exlain
(warnin - is fairly twisted). scremo is emo but with lyrics like arrrrrrrrgh.
Indie quite often has simple tunes and tend not to have the common sort of lyrics you find - like love. They have bands like the Killers and the Automatic.
Chavs tend to like urban RnB and rap basically. Tho chavs are really defined by bright white trainers, sports clothes and benchware - boys wear caps and girls have hilights in their hair and scrape it back into a tight pony tail and 2 bits hanging down at the front and a lot of make-up.
sorry, I'll try to use less slang now

Good for you. I was a bit afraid to admit to being behind the times, not quite 'hip-with-the-young-people'(TM). But see also my original post. I don't think labels really mean much of anything. Case in point:
Indie quite often has simple tunes and tend not to have the common sort of lyrics you find - like love. They have bands like the Killers and the Automatic.
I was always given to understand that indie was far more about the rejection of the major corporate mentality in music. That having been said, that's a VERY broad heading, but I wouldn't have thought it broad enough to include the Killers. Nothing against them, I just wouldn't call them indie. I guess it all means that we can pick and choose terminology and taxonomy to suit ourselves. Descriptions must be about personal adornment, not trying to convey any new information to others.

Windows Media Player has alot simpler view on things in my opinion: it just seems to call everything "rock" like Def leppard is called "rock" and so is iron maiden and even bands like Slipknot!
Is it me or are these bands absolutely nothing like each other?
This isn't a stab at microsoft, well much anyway. its just people tend to think rock is something it isn't which upsets me.
not in the crying sense and breaking down way coz that would be just wierd

Yeah, I mean I'm not very much into indie music myself so I was largely going by a friend of mine who's a big indie fan and pretty much every teenager I know agrees that the Killers are indie. I'm not sure there's a definition of it I can put my finger on. Blast. Oh well, your definition's probably better. Lets all pick our own definitons

One of the simplest definitions of 'indie' would be a band not connected with a major recording label such as Warner, Universal, Sony BMI and EMI. That could be because the artist(s) are just a small, garage-style band, and not (yet) making the big time. Or it could be because they actively reject the corporate mentality.
Now the Killers' label, Island Records used to be one of the biggest indie labels in history, until it was sold to Universal in '89, so they don't quite count as indie anymore. Island Records is also connected to the Island Def Jam Music Group. Mariah Carey's last two albums were under Island Def Jam. Does that make Mariah indie? <shudder>

Re:
I think it's a matter of being divided by a common language. In the USA indie is a category. Bands are indie based on their commercial ambitions and/or label. In the UK, indie is a style thang as described above. Thus in the UK the Killers are indie, as Nirvana would have been and even, arguably, U2. In the States none of the above would be.

Nirvana definitely had an indie edge. In many ways, that was their downfall. Cobain always claimed not to want to be famous, and we all know how well he dealt with it. In fact, his 'K' tattoo actually stands for the indie label 'K Records'. He had major connections to and was influenced by the twee/indie pop scene of the eighties.

I hate to disagree wih yo nelly but no way are lostprophets "emo". The term emo really irritates me because it seems to suggest that no other songs contain emotion. Lostprophets are straight up metal with a sufficient popular appeal to also be thought of as pop-metal. Sorry to sound so aggravated, just I feel that LostProphets would not enjoy the "emo" label!
I see Indie as being softish rock, possibly with "scratchy" guitar noise and certain age and style of people play it, e.g. The Strokes, The Killers(techno-indie?), the rakes, razorlight, the hives- You are pretty much certain that a group is indie if they are called "the [insert noun here]s"!
I also find that indie includes people like Jack White who relate their music to art and other stuff(just look at his Stripes album covers), although he is more a bluesy/rock/indie type of person. I would basically indie soft rock, often with a scratchy guitar sound, which can also include stuff that is recognisable as rock but is fairly original and doesn't fit into any other branch of rock (stripes?).
Hope this lends some light to at least British indie but feel free to disagree!

Re: Lyrics of the last song you listened to
just to carry on from the poetry thread, i shall post Into the West, sung by annie lennox
Lay down,
your sweet and weary head.
Night is falling.
You have come to journey’s end.
Sleep now,and dream
of the ones who came before.
They are calling,
from across the distant shore.
Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see.
All of your fears will pass away.
Safe in my arms,
you’re only sleeping.
What can you see,
on the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea,
a pale moon rises.
The ships have come,
to carry you home.
Dawn will turn,
to silver glass.
A light on the water.
All souls pass.
Hope fades,
Into the world of night.
Through shadows falling,
Out of memory and time.
Don’t say,
We have come now to the end.
White shores are calling.
You and I will meet again.
And you’ll be here in my arms,
Just sleeping.
What can you see,
on the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea,
a pale moon rises.
The ships have come,
to carry you home.
And all will turn,
to silver glass.
A light on the water.
Grey ships pass
Into the West.

Some things in life are bad,
They can really make you mad,
Other things just make you swear and curse,
When you're chewing life's gristle,
Don't grumble,
Give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best.
And...
Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistle]
Always look on the light side of life.
[whistle]
If life seems jolly rotten,
There's something you've forgotten,
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps,
Don't be silly chumps.
Just purse your lips and whistle.
That's the thing.
And...
Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistle]
Always look on the right side of life,
[whistle]
For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word.
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin.
Give the audience a grin.
Enjoy it. It's your last chance, anyhow.
So,...
Always look on the bright side of death,
[whistle]
Just before you draw your terminal breath.
[whistle]
Life's a piece of shit,
When you look at it.
Life's a laugh and death's a joke it's true.
You'll see it's all a show.
Keep 'em laughing as you go.
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And...
Always look on the bright side of life.
Always look on the right side of life.
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!
[whistle]
Always look on the bright side of life!

Always look on the bright side of life!

the sad part is I did the maths- it could be true...a bit stretching the limits but nect to some other stats I've heard it could be true
do abbreviations count as proper pallindromes? e.g. stats?
That ain't no English I ever dun heard!
Re: Lyrics of the last song you listened to
also some wierder songs from Slipknot one from each albumn:
SLIPKNOT: PROSTHETICS:
Even if you run... I will find you
I decided I want you
Now I know.... I need
If you can't be bought, tougher then I thought
Keep in mind - I am with you
Never left out fate, can't concentrate
Even if you run...
You will be mine!
Ah, f***ing you will be mine!
Ah, f***ing you will be mine!
Ah, f***ing you will be mine!
I found you
Leanin' out of an open window
You laughed, our fingers clenched
Too perfect, far too careless
I couldn't help myself - I just took you
Damnit man I knew it was a mistake
Better make yourself at home
You're here to stay
You won't bother me... if you let me bother you
All the doors are locked, all the windows shut
Keep in mind... I watch you
Never leave my side, never leave me, fucker
Even if you run
What the f*** is different?
Man, I can't believe I'm doin' this
IOWA:IOWA
Relax... it's over, you belong to me;
I fill your mouth with dirt;
Relax... it's over, you can never leave;
I take your second digit with me ... Love...;
You are... my first, I can barely breathe;
I find you fascinating;
You are... my favorite, lay you down to sleep;
It's all that I can do to stop...
Love...;
So blue... so broken, paper doll decays;
I haven't left you yet;
So cold... subversive, your eyes are full of bleach;
Tomorrow, I will go away again... Love...;
YOU ARE MINE, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE MINE;
I CAN TEAR YOU APART;
I CAN RECOMBINE YOU;
ALL I WANT IS TO COVET YOU ALL;
YOU BELONG TO ME;
I WILL KILL YOU TO LOVE YOU.
VOLUME 3 (the subliminal verses):VIRUS OF LIFE
I can see you but you can't see me
I could touch you and you wouldn't even feel me
Wait a second and you'll settle down
I'm just waiting, 'til you really let your guard down
You're relaxed, you're sublime, you're amazing
You don't even know the danger you're facing
If I'm quiet, I'll slide up behind you
And if you hear me I'll enjoy trying to find you
I've been with you all day
I'm trying to stay calm
I'm impatient and it's really hard to breathe
I'm going to empty you and fill you in with me
Just keep the violence down
Not yet - don't make a sound
Oh God I'm feeling it
It's reaching fever pitch
My skin is caving in
My heart is driving out
No mercy, no remorse
Let nature take its course
Watching - Bring me to my knees
waiting - I am your disease
Lover - set my symptom free
Covered - you won't feel a thing
You can't feel a thing
(shh, wait, shh, no, wait, wait, no, shh, wait, wait, not yet, no, wait, wait)
I'm sweating through my veins
I'm trying to hold on
It's unbearable, it's almost worse for me
I'm gonna tear you apart and make you see
MAKE YOU SEE!
Watching - Bring me to my knees
waiting - I am your disease
Lover - set my symptom free
Covered - you won't feel a thing
This is the virus
THE VIRUS OF LIFE
This is inside us
The crisis, the knife
This is the virus
The virus of life
This is inside us
The crisis, the knife
It's almost time to play
It's time to be afraid
I can't control the pain
I can't control in vain
Oh God I'm ready now
You're almost ready now
I'm gonna love you now
I'm gonna break put you down
I see you in the dark
I see you all the way
I see you in the light
I see you plain as day
I wanna touch your face
I wanna touch your soul
I wanna wear your face
I wanna burn your soul
Watching - Bring me to my knees
waiting - I am your disease
Lover - set my symptom free
Covered - You can't love me
This is the virus, the virus of life
This is the virus, the virus of life
This is the virus, the virus of life
This is the virus, the virus of life
THIS IS THE VIRUS, THE VIRUS OF LIFE!
THIS IS THE VIRUS, THE VIRUS OF LIFE!

Dance of the Cucumber
While I don't usually go in for cucumbers, this song is amazing, as part of a programme Vegetales in Silly Songs with Larry, the part of the show where Larry comes and sings a silly song:
Narrator: "Larry will be performing the traditional Argentinian ballad,
'The Dance of the Cucumber,' in it's original Spanish. Bob the Tomato
will translate."
Larry: "Miren al pepino"
Bob: "Watch the cucumber"
Larry: "miren como se mueve"
Bob: "see how he moves"
Larry: "como un leon"
Bob: "like a lion"
Larry: "tras un raton."
Bob: "chasing a mouse."
Larry: "Miren al pepino"
Bob: "Watch the cucumber"
Larry: "sus suaves movimientos"
Bob: "Oh, how smooth his motion"
Larry: "tal como mantequilla"
Bob: "like butter"
Larry: "en un chango pelon."
Bob: "on a ... bald monkey."
Larry: "Miren al pepino"
Bob: "Look at the cucumber"
Larry: "los vegetales"
Bob: "all the vegetables"
Larry: "envidian a su amigo"
Bob: "envy their friend"
Larry: "como el quieren bialar"
Bob: "wishing to dance as he"
Larry: "Pepino bailarin, pepino bailarin, pepino bailarin"
Bob: "Dancing cucumber, dancing cucumber, dancing cucumber"
Larry: "Baila, baila, ya!"
Bob: "Dance, dance, yeah!"
Larry: "Miren al tomate"
Bob: "Look at the tomato"
Larry: "no es triste?"
Bob: "Isn't it sad?"
Larry: "El no puede bailar."
Bob: "He can't dance."
Larry: "!Pobre tomate!"
Bob: "Poor tomato!"
Larry: "El deberia poder bailar"
Bob: "He wishes he could dance"
Larry: "Como el pepino"
Bob: "like the cucumber"
Larry: "libre y suavemente."
Bob: "free and smooth."
Larry: "Pero el no puede danzar."
Bob: "But he can't ... Okay! Stop the music! What do ya mean I can't
dance? I can dance! What about Uncle Louie's polka party? Didn't you see
me dancing at Uncle Louie's polka party?"
Larry: "No comprendo."
Bob: "No comprendo? I'll show you 'No comprendo'!"
Jr.: "Mom! Dad! Look over here! Get a picture of me next to the cucumber
in authentic Argentinian garb!"
Dad: "Okay, Junior. But we'd better hurry--I think the dwarves have your
mother confused with someone else! Say 'Peas!'"
All: "Peas!"
Larry: "Escuchen el pepino"
Bob: "Listen to the cucumber"
Larry: "oigan su voz fuerte"
Bob: "hear his strong voice"
Larry: "como un leon"
Bob: "like a lion"
Larry: "listo a devorar."
Bob: "about to eat."
Larry: "Escuchen al pepino"
Bob: "Listen to the cucubmer"
Larry: "que dulce as su canto"
Bob: "oh how sweet his voice"
Larry: "la voz de su garganta perece un triar."
Bob: "the breath from his throat is like a chorus of little birdies."
Larry: "Escuchen al pepino"
Bob: "Listen to the cucumber"
Larry: "los vegetales"
Bob: "all the vegetables"
Larry: "envidian a su amigo"
Bob: "envy their friend"
Larry: "como el quieren cantar."
Bob: "wishing to sing as he."
Larry: "Pepino cantador, pepino cantador, pepino cantador"
Bob: "Singing cucumber, singing cucumber, singing cucumber"
Larry: "canta, canta, ya!"
Bob: "sing, sing, yeah!"
Larry: "Escuchen al tomate"
Bob: "Listen to the tomato"
Larry: "?No es triste?"
Bob: "Isn't it sad?"
Larry: "El no puede cantar."
Bob: "He can't sing."
Larry: "Pobre tomate."
Bob: "Poor tomato."
Larry: "El deberia poder cantar"
Bob: "He wishes he could sing"
Larry: "fuerte y ducle como el pepino"
Bob: "strong and sweet like the cucumber"
Larry: "Pero no puede ..."
Bob: "But he can't ..."
Larry: "!Ni siquiera da un silbido!"
Bob: "Can't even ... whistle! All right! That's it Senor! Come over here
and let me sing YOU a song!"
Larry: "Adios, amigos!"
Narrator: "This has been Silly Songs With Larry. Tune in next time to
hear Larry sing ..."
Larry: "Bob is really angry! I hope he doesn't catch me! It's so hard to
run with this sombrero on my head
nelly - currently not packing a trunk.

White and Nerdy by Weird Al:
They see me mowin' my front lawn
I know they're all thinkin' I'm so
White and nerdy
Think I'm just too white and nerdy
Think I'm just too white and nerdy
Can't you see I'm white and nerdy
Look at me I'm white and nerdy
I wanna roll with the gangstas
But so far they all think I'm too
White and nerdy
Think I'm just too white and nerdy
Think I'm just too white and nerdy
I'm just too white and nerdy
Really, really white and nerdy
First in my class here at MIT
Got skills, I'm a champion at D&D
M.C. Escher, that's my favorite M.C.
Keep you're 40, I'll just have an Earl Grey tea
My rims never spin, to the contrary
You'll find that they're quite stationary
All of my action figures are cherry
Stephen Hawking's in my library
My MySpace page is all totally pimped out
Got people beggin' for my top eight spaces
Yo, I know pi to a thousand places
Ain't got no grills but I still wear braces
I order all of my sandwiches with mayonnaise
I'm a wiz at Minesweeper, I could play for days
Once you've see my sweet moves, you're gonna stay amazed
My fingers movin' so fast I'll set the place ablaze
There's no killer app I haven't run (run)
At Pascal, well I'm number one (one)
Do vector calculus just for fun
I ain't got a gat, but I got a soldering gun (what?)
Happy Days is my favorite theme song
I could sure kick your butt in a game of ping pong
I'll ace any trivia quiz you bring on
I'm fluent in JavaScript as well as Klingon
Here's the part I sing on...
You see me roll on my Segway
I know in my heart they think I'm
White and nerdy
Think I'm just too white and nerdy
Think I'm just too white and nerdy
Can't you see I'm white and nerdy
Look at me I'm white and nerdy
I'd like to roll with the gangstas
Although it's apparent I'm too
White and nerdy
Think I'm just too white and nerdy
Think I'm just too white and nerdy
I'm just too white and nerdy
How'd I get so white and nerdy
I been browsin', inspectin' X-Men comics
You know I collect 'em
The pens in my pocket, I must protect them
My ergonomic keyboard never leaves me bored
Shoppin' online for deals on some writable media
I edit Wikipedia
I memorized Holy Grail really well
I can recite it right now and have you R-O-T-F-L-O-L
I got a business doing websites (websites)
When my friends need some code, who do they call?
I do HTML for 'em all
Even made a homepage for my dog, yo
I got myself a fanny pack
They were havin' a sale down at The Gap
Spend my nights with a roll of bubble wrap
Pop, pop - hope no one sees me gettin' freaky
I'm nerdy in the extreme
Whiter than sour cream
I was in AV club and glee club
And even the chess team
Only question I ever thought was hard
Was "Do I like Kirk or do I like Picard?"
Spend every weekend at the Renaissance Faire
Got my name on my underwear
They see me strollin', they're laughin'
And rollin' their eyes cause I'm so
White and nerdy
Just because I'm white and nerdy
Just because I'm white and nerdy
All because I'm white and nerdy
Holy cow, I'm white and nerdy
I wanna bowl with the gangstas
But oh well, it's obvious I'm
White and nerdy
Think I'm just too white and nerdy
Think I'm just too white and nerdy
I'm just too white and nerdy
Look at me I'm white and nerdy
That ain't no English I ever dun heard!
Re: Lyrics of the last song you listened to
As I walk through the valley where I harvest my grain, I take a look at my wife and realize she's very plain. But that's just perfect for an Amish like me, you know, I shun fancy things like electricity. At 4:30 in the morning I'm milking cows, Jebediah feeds the chickens and Jacob plows, fool, and I've been milking and plowing so long that even Ezekiel thinks that my mind is gone. I'm a man of the land, I'm into discipline, got a Bible in my hand and a beard on my chin. But if i finish all of my chores, and you finish thine, then tonight we're gonna party like it's 1699
We've been spendin' most our lives livin' in an Amish Paradise.
I churned butter once or twice livin' in an Amish Paradise
It's hard work and sacrifice livin' in an Amish Paradise
We sell quilts at discount price livin' in an Amish paradise
A local boy kicked me in the butt last week, i just smiled at him, and i turned the other cheek! I really don't care, in fact i wish him well, cause i'll be laughin my head off when he' burnin in heck, but i ain't never punched a tourist, even if he deserved it, an Amish with a 'tude? You know, that's unheard of. I never wear buttons, but i got a cool hat, and my homies agree i really look good in black, fool. If you come to visit, you'll be bored to tears, we haven't even paid the phone bill in 300 years. But we ain't really quaint, so please don't point and stare. We're just technologically impaired.
There's no phone, no lights, no motor cars, not a single luxury. Like Robinson Caruso, it's as primitive as can be.
We've been spendin most our lives livin in an Amish paradise, We're just plain and simple guys livin in an Amish paradise, There's no time for sin and vice livin in an Amish paradise, we don't fight we all play nice livin in an Amish paradise
Hitchin' up the buggy,
Churnin' lots of butter,
raise a barn on Monday,
soon i'll raise another!
Think you're really righteous?
Think you're pure at heart?
Well, I know I'm a million times as humble as thou art!
I'm the pias guy the little Amlets wanna be like
On my knees, day and night, scorin' points for the afterlife!
So don't be vain.
And don't be whiney!
Or else, my brother, i might have to get Medieval on your hiney!
We've been spendin' most our lives livin' in an Amish paradise
We're all crazy Mennonites livin' in an Amish paradise
There's no cops or traffic lights livin in an Amish paradise
But you'd probably think it bites livin in an Amish paradise!
(Amish villiagers singing in choir)
Yuck!

COMBINE HARVESTER (BRAND NEW KEY)
(Melanie Safka / Brendan O'Shaughnessy -
- Parody of Melanie Safka's "Brand New Key")
The Wurzels (vocal: Pete Budd) - 1976
I drove my tractor
Through yur 'aystack last night (Ooh-arrhh, ooh-arrhh)
I threw me pitchfork at yur dog
To keep quiet (Ooh-arrhh, ooh-arrhh)
Now somethin's tellin' me
That you'm avoidin' me
Come on now, darlin'
You've got somethin' I need
'Cause I got a brand new combine harvester
An' I'll give you the key
Come on now let's get together
In perfect harmony
I got twenty acres
An' you got forty-three
Now I got a brand new combine harvester
An' I'll give you the key
SPOKEN: She made I laugh, ha-ha
I'll stick by you
I'll give you all that you need
We'll 'ave twins and triplets
I'm a man built for speed
And you know I'll love you, darlin'
So give me yur hand
But what I want the most
Is all they acres of land
'Cause I got a brand new combine harvester
An' I'll give you the key
Come on now let's get together
In perfect harmony
I got twenty acres
An' you got forty-three
Now I got a brand new combine harvester
An' I'll give you the key
SPOKEN: Ooh-aah, she's a lovely bit of stuff an' all
For seven long years
I've been alone in this place
Eat, sleep, in the kitchen
It's a proper disgrace
Now if I cleaned it up
Would you change your mind
I'll give up drinkin' scrumpy
And that lager and lime
'Cause I got a brand new combine harvester
An' I'll give you the key
Come on now let's get together
In perfect harmony
I got twenty acres
An' you got forty-three
Now I got a brand new combine harvester
An' I'll give you the key
SPOKEN: Who loves ya, baby, ha
Weren't we a grand couple
At that last wurzel dance
I wore brand new gaters
And me cordouroy pants
In your new Sunday dress
With your perfume smellin' grand
We had our photos took
An' us holdin' hands
Now I got a brand new combine harvester
An' I'll give you the key
Now that we'me both past our fifties
I think that you and me
Should stop this galavanting
And will you marry me
'Cause I got a brand new combine harvester
An' I'll give you the key
SPOKEN: Aahh, yu're a fine lookin' woman
and I can't wait to get me 'ands on yur land

John Butler who is GOD wrote many songs one of the better ones is something's Got to Give:
A little feeling in my gut that I get of late
When I think about these cats running the world with hate
I say: something's gotta give
Got the whole world fighting for the Texas Chief
Got a letter for you, got a letter for me
But the kettle's leaking like a sieve
There's a puddle on the floor
There's a puddle in the sky
The kettle's leaking so much man it's burning my eyes
Can't you just throw that damper out
On the subject of throwing stuff away
I know some deaf men who can't hear a word we say
No matter, No matter how loud we do shout
And I say...
Something's gotta give right now boy
Something's gotta give right now
Something's gotta give right now man
Something's gotta give right now
I was reading the newspaper just yesterday
Got the headlines reading God bless the USA
And I thought: God Bless Everyone
God bless the people in New York when they were attacked
God bless the children being bombed there in Iraq
God bless the goddamn junkie with a monkey on his back
God bless everybody under the sun
Cause the world ahead will end If we don’t have love
Do your job and pay attention to God above
But eventually the only guarantee will be that the tea in your tank will run dry
Coz without love you know there aint no life
You can duplicate it and bottle it up all you like
But it doesn't mean you're gonna get another try
Get another try boy
Something's gotta give right now boy
Something's gotta give right now P-Yoo
Something's gotta give right now man
Something's gotta give right now
I Said..
Something's gotta give right now boy
Something's gotta give right now (Yeah)
Something's gotta give right now
Something's gotta give right now.....

Re: Lyrics of the last song you listened to
this is for Magadeth's "Mice and men"
The fire burns on
and all that drives me on
till all is gone except
the simple plans of mice and men
Back when I was just 17
I thought that I knew everything
I could make it in this scene
To be a rising star that only gleamed
When all the answers disagreed
With the questions held for me
I was legal now at 21
I knew the way the world should run
My God, just look what I had done
Simply drunk and having fun
Looked for friends but I found none
All alone at 21
The fire burns on
and **and all that drives me on***
till all is gone except
the simple plans of mice and men
At 25 I was suprised
That I was even half alive
somehow I managed to survive
I found my bodys' doing time
In my back a hundred knives
All from my friends at 25
And now as Gabriel sounds my warning bell
I'd buy your life if you would sell
**A year or two** if less compelled
So live your life and live it well
Theres not much left of me to tell
I just got back up each time I fell
The fire burns on
and ***and all that drives me on***
till all is gone except
the simple plans of mice and men
The fire burns on
and all that drives me on
till all is gone except
the simple plans of mice and men
The fire burns on
and ***and all that drives me on***
till all is gone except
the simple plans of mice and men
The fire burns on

till all is gone except

bob marley - "redemption song"
Old pirates, yes, they rob i;
Sold I to the merchant ships,
Minutes after they took i
From the bottomless pit.
But my hand was made strong
By the and of the almighty.
We forward in this generation
Triumphantly.
Wont you help to sing
These songs of freedom? -
cause all I ever have:
Redemption songs;
Redemption songs.
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can free our minds.
Have no fear for atomic energy,
cause none of them can stop the time.
How long shall they kill our prophets,
While we stand aside and look? ooh!
Some say its just a part of it:
Weve got to fulfil de book.
Wont you help to sing
These songs of freedom? -

Redemption songs;

Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;

Wo! have no fear for atomic energy,

Re: Lyrics of the last song you listened to
der last song i listened to...
[thinks carefully]
"seven nation army" by der white stripes...
I'm gonna fight 'em off
A seven nation army couldn't hold me back
They're gonna rip it off
Taking their time right behind my back
And I'm talking to myself at night
Because I can't forget
Back and forth through my mind
Behind a cigarette
And the message coming from my eyes
Says leave it alone
Don't want to hear about it
Every single one's got a story to tell
Everyone knows about it
From the Queen of England to the hounds of hell
And if I catch it coming back my way
I'm gonna serve it to you
And that ain't what you want to hear,
But that's what I'll do
And the feeling coming from my bones
Says find a home
I'm going to Wichita
Far from this opera for evermore
I'm gonna work the straw
Make the sweat drip out of every pore
And I'm bleeding, and I'm bleeding, and I'm bleeding
Right before the lord
All the words are gonna bleed from me
And I will think no more
And the stains coming from my blood
Tell me go back home
I know, lets all jump of the white cliffs of Dover holding hands!
