I am up for another double game the above layout is what i am using in my games with Tompko and Dearmer so would appriciate doing same layout with you ok?

I really would prefer a single game if that's ok with you. Since I haven't even finished my first ever game of forum thud yet I'm still learning about the game and my playing style and as such, would like to take it slow. If that's ok with you, let me know. I'm happy to play trolls or dwarfes first so, yeah, take it from here.

As you are seem to be new to game i will be happy to answer any questions about my tactics etc. I have found helping teach Thud at discworld events that the best way to learn it is to play it. Thanks for the offer of explainations, but I'll do without. You're right that I'm quite new to thud. I have a board but no opponents nearby, so I come here in search of competition, so that I may learn some tricks.

Sorry for the delay in replying. I have a question that has never come up before. If I have a line of 3 trolls, can I shove a troll any distance between 1 and 3 spaces or are trolls not that refined and can only shove to their max distance? I need an answer to this question before I can confidentially make my next move.

Trolls can move from 1 to how many they can shove upto in this case 3 they are not as dumb as the dwarfs somtimes make out also another thing that sometimes confuses people is that a dwarf can throw itself one space so can take a troll if it was next to it the preveous move.

Being a mostly troll player, bizarrely I knew the dwarf tip. Thanks for the troll info though. Funny how the smallest points need to be known to make the smallest of moves.

You are welcome to the info its one of the things i like about Thud the rules are simple but subtle and the game that results can be quite complex for instance i have just forked you like in chess with a single move from outside the area of play that we were concentrating on.

I just can't seem to form any sort of game plan here. Really am playing it one move at a time.

As a Troll you should be trying to control as much of the board as possible early in the game idealy getting out quickley to four of the 7A corners with consideration given to preventing/breaking up dwarf blocks as i have a block well started you have to consdier if its worth sacrificeing a Troll to break it up or try and take as many other dawrfs preventing the block growing too big (I can go hunting with blocks of 16-20)

Yeah, I understand the basic idea of playing as trolls. It's just very hard playing against someone as good as you. This is definatly the hardest game I've played so far.
