Quickfire game scheduling thread

Founding PatronBronze Member

Hi. I love playing slowfire. I spend perhaps too much time on it. But I would love to play some quickfire, too. Problem is, at least I think it is, that since I am in a different timezone from most folks, there is never anyone in the room when I go there. I've never seen the client in operation, beyond signing in.

Could there be a thread, perhaps in forum Thud, for people looking to schedule quickfire games? If people said they were open at certain times GMT, people could set it up by pm.

Does this make sense?

PM'ing schedules is a great idea. I just left the client to check in here and there were 6 people logged in and playing. As I understand it OB, SaneAlex and the Dutch contingent are usually on and playing some nights around 4-7PM your time (EST if I recall correctly?) so after work you may be able to find some Thud action out there. A lot of Thudding goes on around lunchtime GMT (6:30 - 8AM on the east coast). Very soon I'm going to start bigging it up around some of the Asian Thud locales so soon we hope to have 24HR Thud play going on Very Happy

Feel free to organize away though... don;t let us get in the way! Wink

Yes me and OB are on quite often around 23:00 to 1:00 GMT and i am often on earlier in the evening and have found that it seems to be busiest around 20:00 - 22:00 GMT and fairly random on weekends i think a thread would be a good idea as well.

For now I think I'll try going on, if I can, at the times you suggest. If this is just a problem for me, I can solve it that way.

Thanks for the info.

Speaking as another North American, I can sympathize with the awkward hours on the quickfire server. I can't necessarily say that certain times are better or worse than others to find me around, because I'm still (for the next few weeks, at least) struggling along with dialup. If I hit the server, and there's no one around to play, or if everyone's already in a game, I haven't really got the luxury of just hanging around waiting for a game. I'm starting to get a feel for when some people are online, but it's slow going.

All that having been said, I might check in around 22:30 GMT, and breeze on and off the server. If there's someone around at that time, we might play!

Hi All,

Found the site just yesterday....First Post!!

I've also noticed that in the quickfire games sometimes I am the only person logged on, but when I come over here to the forums there are a few people on. Is there anyway to nudge the people on the forums to let them know that someone is in the quickfire game and wants to play?

Just a thought.

You could PM people - tho I'm not the best at remembering to look at them, I think most people are rather more reliable Wink

It is possible to set the options of your forum account that if you receive a message it sends a notification to your email account(which a lot of people check regularly) and also to give you a popup if you are actually logged in online.

Yes, and I do indeed get the emails - it's when I'm online at the time that unneccessary delays happen, becasue although I've got the pop-up option selected they dont seem to appear. Next to the option in profile where you select pop-ups it says

I'm wondering whether the template is the same as the forum style, or whether its something else. Since I use the subsilver style to squeeze performance out of my neanderthaal box I wouldnt be hugely suprised if this was the cause...
