From the photo it looks like the original massed produced gaming version if so point who ever you sell it to at this site so they can get the rules for Koom Valley and Klash!. IIRC the way to tell between versions is that the later mass produced version has a second Thudstone in the shape of a cube aka the "Device" along with Koom Valley rules in addition to the traditional rules.

You're right. Mine does also look more like a pyramidal cone.

The first mass produced gaming sets just had the pyramidal cone or i would say an elongated tetrahedron Thudstone with 3 runic scripts down the different sides one of which i think was in ogham script and my understanding was that when it was re released when the Thud book was launched that the later sets that also had the Koom valley rules also had a second cube shaped Thudstone matching the description of "Devices" mentioned in the book.

I know, I do have one of the newer ones. Nonetheless the "Device" does look more like a shortened version of the early Thudstone than a cube. But maybe I'm just beeing picky Wink

Me too, what do you want on them?

Sorry, I just realized it's friday. One realizes that as soon as one reads my posts. There is nothing sensible coming out of it. Maybe this is the perfect time to write the texts for the exhibition...
*getsstraighttowork*

@Zapphire: Tell us when you sold your Set, we only keep on posting so as this post stays on the top Wink

Yes please to the photo its one of the sets i have not got i was describing what i had been told by Bernard and Trevor and i thought i had seen the prototype at the same time, it was IIRC cube shaped as the description in the book of "Devices" its possible it got changed later for manufacturing reasons but i would have thought a cube would have been as easy to mould but maybe not. So am i wrong and the 2nd edition mass produced gaming sets second small Thudstone has 3 sides showing rather than 4 with a top and bottom?

Your wish is my command Razz. Here's the board (not all the dwarfs obviously) and here's a close up of the two stones. Not very cube like as you can see.

Well, mine are not as well used as I like them to be, but at least I was able to play a few real games.
