There's six beds to each room.
Both families Palm and OB attended 2007 con. It was nice, the castle is terrific. Still considering, it's a long time away.

hopefully i shall be able to attend *starts to learn some german*

it's a different castle this time. last year it was freusburg, next year it's bilstein.

I'd like to come, but I'm not certain yet - I may need to be earning, rather than spending money at that stage,,,

There was talk a while ago about a european road trip - if the UK contingent all drove down together, maybe going via the Netherlands if OB and Palm are coming. Does anyone know if we got any further on that?

i think burg bilstein is some kind of youth hostel so the rooms might well be for more than two persons and there is space on the booking form for
"who i want to share a room with and who i definitely DON'T want to share a room with"

being a good mum i might need to share a room with my kids and see that they aren't up to any mischief (without me)

i'm also planning to make a post to this topic in the Stamps Forum cos the talk Scrubby remembers included interested "stampers" and thudders going together and maybe(?) hopefully (!) sharing the cost for transport.

so either you have a look at the Stamps Forum from time to time or you wait for updates on here.

i just checked on the website. there are rooms with 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 beds.

OH, is there an ikea on the way? or close by?

seems to me the closest ikea is 52google maps minutes off.

Hi everyone. It's gone a bit quite here on thudgame.com as far as I can tell from the last reply dates on the forums. I have to admit that I haven't been here for quite some time, too :-/

I really hope you'll all be coming to the German Con next summer (and advertise it where ever Pratchett fans gather ). I also hope that I'll get some replies by the thudgame.com team (if still existing) and Bernard so we can organize another Thud championship like in 2007.

BTW: If you register before the 1.1.2009 there is a going to be a surprise present for you

Worry not, oh be-hatted one! The thudgame.com team lives on, but has merely been underground for most of 2008. We have re-emerged knackered but triumphant, bloody but unbowed, and stand ready to organise tournaments, contests, battles of strategic wit and skill in and amongst any band of the Discwordly that will have us.

honestly, as much as i hate it, but you don't need to know a word of german to get around this place. in fact, it'll be a lot easier for you and everybody else if you just use english rather than doing a twoflower....

I updated the Convention wiki a bit yesterday and added more English translation. Hope that helps you to find your ways around. As for room mates: Changes to your wishes can be mailed after your registration. That won't be a problem because we'll do the room sorting days before the festival.

Maybe here's a better place to leave this explanation than below the newspost: The theme is "Unseen University"* but our motto will be F.E.T.T. which is short for the miss-spelled "Feiert Eine Tolle Tsusammenkunft" meaning "celebrate an amazing gathering". Maybe somebody here can come up with a similar meaning for F.A.T. ?

After the 2007's success I was wondering if it's the world economy crisis that prevents people from booking :-/ If you hang around in Discworld related forums etc. please don't hesitate to mention the German Con and point people to the website.

I will go next year when i am in army, after basic training as then i get a travel warrant. Oh yeah!

In addition to sword fighting and halberd parading, we added archery to the outdoor activities

we don't know if we'll be able to come yet, we'll have to decide spontaneously...

Actually Dewi and I are going (and possibly Mrs Dewi), and trusting that Ang, Ponder and Scrubby are coming too. If there are enough interested we'll hire a van/bus and do a Thudsters road trip. Happy to accommodate Stampers too!

We really need to plan this thing before the end of June if we're going to do it so please let us know if you want to come along ASAP. What you need is passport, clothes, washing stuff (towels, flannels, soap, shampoo, etc- it's a German youth hostel: think camping out but in a real-live castle* with beds), and money/credit card. It'll all fit in a small duffel so you know you wanna, just put your name down.

Also I'm happy to make reasonable detours to collect some of our French, Dutch, Belgian and German contingent so please get in touch if you want us to collect you as well.

I am going to repeat here what i sent an email to all you thinking about going...

I just cannot afford to go to this con AND wadfest. To be very honest with you, i would rather go to wadfest, as I much prefer the more laid back atmosphere and it is much easier and a hell of a lot cheaper to get to/participate.

Sorry guys, but maybe next time when I have funds; I am currently living on a student loan which is about £5000 - not a lot to live on in a year I think you will agree.
