Shouldn't that be "canned pork snickers" the way spammers morph the language
Where are we going and why am i in this handbasket?...
...Oh! always try to look on the bright side...
... Um anybody got any marshmellows.?
Re: Did I miss something important?
"canned pork snickers"
Isn't there also some sort of "Spam-Bread"? I thought there was something like bread in Cans as well.
BTW I have a hard time to imagine sniggering pork, specially with caramel-top and choccolate coating...

Re: Did I miss something important?
And here to round it all up:
Would you like to make your own?
"Boston Brown Bread" - 1 loaf
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 rye flour
1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup sour milk or buttermilk
1/2 cup molasses
1/2 cup raisins
1) Grease 1 lb. coffee can; line bottom with waxed paper. In large bowl, combine all ingredients; mix well.
2) Pour batter into prepared can; cover with foil and tie to can with string.
3) Place can on rack in deep saucepan; add boiling water to reach halfway up side of can. Cover pan.
4) Over low heat, simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hours until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from can immediately; cool on wire rack.
TIP: Release bread from can by opening bottom end of can with can opener.
TIP: Cut bread while warm with thread.
TIP: Substitute greased 1-quart casserole for coffee can. Cover with tight lid or foil.

Re: Did I miss something important?
sounds, well, strange, but as a student who always has to eat the same stuff at least three days in a row to use it up before it goes to waste and cant actually shop more than 2 days in advance, i approve of canned stuff. though i havent actually bought any cans yet XD. at the moment i can buy deep frozen stuff and put it in the snow

Tell me if you do. I will join you in trying it. Would be worth a trip through Germany and a great reason to visit you

i live at the other end of germany now though. but maybe we could meet in the middle, i.e. at sp's
i'll check if i can find any, but i doubt it, this isnt america after all. might have to make it ourselves XD

I know that, that's why I need a really good excuse

Sounds more reasonable, true...

Well, that way the fun will last longer, I guess. Opening a can (usually) doesn't take that long

Re: Did I miss something important?
yep, so how about we meet in the middle, make bread, can it, open the can again and eat (or at least try to) the bread?

I was really surprised that it is mainly only knitting "straight lines".
I wonder if it is possible to knit a bag for a mobile phone the same way but with the knitiing technique you use for socks...
except the raisins
Sorry raisins, you won't be invited... It's not my fault SP's an ingredientsist
1/2 cup whole wheat flour, 1/2 rye flour, 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
Uh oh, so many cups to smash in half... Gladly if you smash them correctly you will get two of them from only smashing one

.... if you're interested, i know a much better technique for knitting bags for mobiles or i pods with only two needles but them being bags nonetheless......
and sorry for being an ingredientsist but raisins are just plain evil, they're always trying to gain world-domination
..... and i won't have that in my bread, no sir!

Oh dear, I never thought I would be discussing about knitting... but ah well:
Did I get this right. You'r knitting both sides and then stitch them together?

Re: Did I miss something important?
nah,..... you just keep knitting back and forth but by knitting every other stitch and omitting the one between you'll end up having a tube already closed at the bottom.

Re: Did I miss something important?
i haven't located any canned bread yet, but at IKEA they have instant bread dough in tetra packs. just add warm water, let the dough rise and bake. tastes rather nice, actually.

wow, it does sound... well... I mean it is what you normally do. The only thing difference is, that you have to mix up the stuff beforehand... So where's the big "innovation"?

that it's in a tetra pack? makes the whole mixing process a lot easier.

Ah so you mean you can actually add the water to the package, shake it, cut it open and use it?

Re: Did I miss something important?
yep, you open the pack like any other, add the water, close it (and hold on to it), shake it and then pour the mixture into the baking pan. dont even have to wash a bowl afterwards

Re: Did I miss something important?
when did it all go to food BTW hex needs to be FTB enabled to work also bannananananananas do contain nut cashews usualy
Re: Did I miss something important?
Huh, this took some time to decipher. Well, it all started with bread in tin. That reminds me... this is still an open project... That would be a great reason to visit my neighbours again. Haven't seen them for ages... I really have to start planning my summer...
bannananananananas do contain nut cashews usualy
well they do look similar... maybe cashews are nothing more than really dried up bananas... I propose a postulate. Who dares trying to prove me wrong?

does it require experiments with bananananas? if yes, not me. unless the banananananas suffer. a lot.

Weeellll, do you like cashews?

Re: Did I miss something important?
yeah. i dont love them, but they're edible enough. which could be considered proof that they are not, in fact, dried banananas. or any kind of banananans, really.

Grrrr there you are. Being happy to continue the lifechanging discussion whether cashews are bananananas or not. Yes! Someone did continue the thread. That's it. Life will be much clearer afterwards. I'm really sure about this...
. What a depressing life. Ah well, at least I learned something
Well, the fog of life did clear up. But the knowledge gained is in a completely different direction than expected. Only spammers have something to say about bananas and cashews it seems
