3 things not to forget...

Founding PatronLibrarianDruidThudmeister

Well we've got a thread on things it might be a good idea to leave at home, but what are the top 3 things you shouldnt forget if you're going away for a while?

I ask cos in a week's time I'm gonna be going off for a couple of months, which is by far the longest I've been away from home. Of course I'm fully initiated in the need to know where my towel is, but if that's (and I quote) about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitch hiker can have, what's the next most useful thing? What will i miss most?

All advice welcome (even crazy advice Smile)

1. your passport, so you can always look up what your name is
2. a photo of yourself so you can check what you should look like
3. a mirror to check what you really look like atm
(4. gingerbread?)

i wish you a good time abroad and may you safely return
*hugs

considering where you're going, a bottle of sunscreen would probably be a good idea Razz
i can't tell you what you will miss, only what i missed. my family and friends. the madness and the people on thud. i don't know about tanzania, but in nz i had the feeling that the people just had the wrong sense of humour for me. so maybe a dw book or two might be a good idea, too....
we'll miss you lotsness!!

Now there speaks a lady with my best interests at heart Smile Though I'm not sure the mirror is such a good idea... Imagine what I'll look like when I havent shaved for a few weeks. Blond facial hair! Nooooo!

Internets might be a problem - there's no access where I'm going to be living, its just possible I'll be able to get to a computer some weekends, but even then not for long. I shall do my best to pop in, but otherwise I think you'll just have to behave yourselves while I'm gone Razz

Good policy - I plan to take lots of books, and probably not bring most of them back, so I'm hitting charity shops for second hand ones.

Clothing? Are you sure that's neccessary? Damn, I'm gonna have to find some space in my bag... maybe I cant take quite so many boxes of gingerbread...

YAY! The thud grand tour, this way Smile

I might just do that - a couple of years ago I made myself a travel board (by cutting up an old bed sheet and writing on it) which doubles as a handy bag to carry the pieces... Sounds like rather a good plan.

1) Mp3 (When some weird native starts talking to you/when there is annoying, loud music around)

2) A long knife or a handgun (When some weird native starts demanding you to hand over the mp3)

3) A concealed bottle of vodka (When a bunch of weird natives have beaten and robbed you you can delay the pain and misery to the next day, now with added headache)
