Watching the trailer to COM made me think about colours. Everyone knows that a Banana is yellow. But if I seriously think about it, Bananas taste much more pinkish. Please join me in collecting and discussing tastes and smells and what colour you associate it with.

well, i'm not exactly a fan of pink, so i'm not sure what it tastes like. but then i'm not exactly a fan of bananananas either, so you might be right...

that's only cos the skin of a banana is yellow,and so is the banana,quite a weird fruit actually,a banana,but anyway i think people think a certain taste is a colour cos the actual look of the food/drink/whatever is what links to the taste in our mind,that make any sense?

it would be interesting to blindfold persons and give them food they've never seen before and ask them of what colour they think while eating.

I think the word you are looking for is synesthesia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synesthesia i word i quite like as it is officially spelt in amlost as many ways as i would spell it
i think in recent experiments it was discovered that although a lot of those with synesthesia do have similar associations not all do tho some common ones have entered common parlance like blues for depression. BTW as the recently deceased Archchancellor Trymon *1 said in COM "Bananannas don't grow on trees you know" *2 and therefore are not a fruit.

*2 In Roundworld they are a herb and in Discworld technically they are a fish.

I like the second part even better. If you consider this then Strawberries and blackberries are not fruits either. Whereas I have to admit that Strawberries technically speaking are nuts.
But either way, for me blackberries taste a dark shade of green to me while Strawberries somehow are a light yellow.

Why color food but just eat it
You could say the more sour the more white or the more spicy the more red or the more sweat pink but do it matter?
