search bar and other things

Druid

hey everyone

i have been thinking, i have some suggestions for the site which i think will help people and druids.

Firstly would it be possible to have a search bar on the Members list that you can type in someones name and it helps your search like that? this would mean you wouldnt need to look through all the pages just to find the right letter etc.

Secondly, would it be possible that when a druid deletes a comment it goes into a certain area in the site e.g the holding cell so that its not perminatly deleted? then we have evidence of what we have deleted? because sometimes someone might accedently delete something.

Just some ideas

Hi Angua,

See, I always keep my promises Wink

First the search bar for members. Dunno, I don't think I've ever searched the members list so I wouldn't even know how hard it is. But sounds like a good idea, especially if you're looking for someone whose name was "something like .... if I remember correctly".

And deletion? I was under the impression that we never, ever, delete posts? That's why I started the finished/unfinished business in Thud Forum. I proposed deleting unfinished games long ago (after all they're nothing but clutter), but got a verbal slap on the wrist by Dewi. All nice and soft, and very eloquent, but still Wink .

By the way, I noticed this topic was in "start". After posting this answer I will move it to "site suggestions".

edit: oops, it was in "site suggestions", it just didn't show while I was answering. Sorry.

Happy Thudding!

we do delete. not topics, but comments that are spam or offensive. and yep, it might be good to save a copy of them somewhere.
and i'd absolutely love a search bar for the members list!

Nooo, not deleting just, lets say someone wrote some thing and it was offensive etc then we could click on delete and it would delete the post and make a copy in the holding cell. Also if you accedently delete a post that you werent meant to there is always a copy somewhere.

Re: search bar and other things

hoi, ppl, apparently there may be some unintentioanl issue here, um normal members can retro-edit posts. Is this a design flaw or an intentional thing?

Re: search bar and other things

yes, I know, but I mentioned it to Ponder who was rather surprised at this so I fugured mebe it was a mistake

which is probably because he's a druid and has been one for ages and druids can edit anything.

Re: search bar and other things

thank you ratty for assuming once again that i have no idea what I'm on about. Usually you would be right, but what I am saying is that Ponder (a druid) was surprised at the fact that non druids are unable to edit posts retroactively and is of the opinion that this may be an error as on many other fora ANYONE can edit retroactively

Re: search bar and other things

that's a bit retrograde isn't it?
i mean what would the point of a druid be if he had the power of the normal mass user?hmmm, something to ponder now ponder eh?
