[MMO] If you're an amateur looking to help, please read.

Admin

This forum is intended in its own little way to help us towards out ultimate dream: the creation of a Discworld MMO.

Our main task up front is to make a demo.
With that, we make a pitch to get out license expanded.
With that license in hand, we try to get funding.
After that, the real work begins.

Well, that's the plan anyway. For the time being, enthusiasm, boosting egos, and most importantly, offering free help are the very best things you could do for us.

Check out the professionals post. If there's anything there that you could do cheaper than a pro, and to a reasonable quality, please let us know.

Oh yeah, once we have a working game up, playtesters and comments would be strongly needed.

For the initial concept demo, though, which is really just to convince Pratchett, there won't be any playtesting involved, but comments and ideas are still more than welcome!

not exactly a programmer, not at all actually but happy to help, sound board ideas, write content or help plan structures and interaction scenarios or anything else useful and lay person suitable. When its finished can I move in?

Q: What is the difference between a humanistic, monastic system of belief in which wisdom
is sought by means of an apparently nonsensical system of questions and answers, and a lot of
mystic gibberish made up on the spur of the moment?'
Ans: A Fish

If you're still going with this project then I am an amateur who works for free. I love Discworld and game design. I have been wondering about doing a 2D non-profit fan Discworld MMO for ages. I would absolutely love to help! You can email me at robert.o.king AT hotmail.co.uk if you are still working on the project and my help would be appreciated.

Hi, I'm Rob's brother, Alex (Rob being the poster above). Rob showed me this project, and being another Discworld and Gaming fan I'd just like to say that I'd love to help too. I suck at actually making games, but am reasonably good at game design, and would love to help playtest this game - I've already beta tested an upcoming mmo, by the way. I work for free, and would love to help out in this project.

Im able to somewhat help, i msged your aim haha, i found this on a ign forum dated in jan and im glad to see this is actually moving forward, I was just thinking about in a year or so of making a 2d mmo discworld. My background is i am a information system student and married, I live in Utah. I havn't read too many pratchett books but love them, have played the Mud or tried to twice, its very detailed and gets confusing.

My
Skillz:

Photoshop - Pretty good.
Maya (Modeling, cant texture that well and animate making skeletons is hard)
Java (Learning in school and use it for my game.)
Networking and SysAdmin (Have a virtual linux server (www.authorscritique.com))
Linux (Have a 2U server with crap upload speed thanks to my ISP Smile
Web Design - im decent.

I dont know how much help I will really be but an hour or two here and there with an assignment such as a building to be made i can do Smile
