I have been currently reading "the eye of the world" by Robert Jordan. The first book in his "Wheel of Time" epic series. I was wondering if anyone else out there had read any of his books? this is my first one and i am enjoying it very much.
Genre:fantasy lord-of-the-rings stylee.
His writing style is also very similar to tolkein as well but, if i may say so, is much better.
So, anyone read it?

Re: Robert Jordan
I have read all of them and let me forewarn you........................................................ they never end
I have been hooked for no reason I can pinpoint the whole way through, even when it got to the point where he took up 3 pages to describe how people glanced at each other and had so many characters and special fantasy words that you had to keep using the index at the back every 10 minutes and forgot the story 5 books ago........ and now Robert Jordan has died, just as he was writing what he promised was the last one................. one can weep.
nelly - currently not packing a trunk.

Re: Robert Jordan
And really, Robert Jordan may have started off quite good, but I wasn't exagerating about the whole 3 page thing, it gets ridiculous. He writes what a character is thinking inbetween exchanges in a conversation, and you have to keep reading back because he's taken a whole page to say what would be a moment's thought and you've already forgotten what was said in the first place.....
sorry about the rant, but no-one else living near me has read them, so i let out when i can!

Re: Robert Jordan
Im an avid reader but cant handle books by people who spend hours and hours describing little details - however I have found that I desperatelty enjoy listening to these as audiobooks and am currently listening to the Wheel of Time series. Im on book 6 and they are amazingly great.
Re: Robert Jordan
i have read all but knife of dreams i think, can't remember if i read that last one yet...hmmm,i've read all the others twice though,it is true, but i did cheat and skip the dull bits periodically.
but yes it is a good series, one of the best, unfortunately it is true that robert jordan has passed away, never to write again, the characters he created are still some of my favourite, the 3 main guys are awesome and well constructed,
david gemmel also passed away some time ago,i'm sure some of you have read his stuff, also good to me
