Hogswatch 07

Founding PatronLibrarianDruidThudmeister

It's that time again - I think quite a few people have already headed down to Sunny Wincanton for the Hogswatch celebrations this year, but I thought I'd start this topic to see if anyone else is going, and talk bout stuff and nonsense afterwards... I shall be trekking it down upon the morrow for the day, and look forward to miscellaneous silliness Wink

See you there

Sorry you couldn't make it, Hex... I have now return'ed, but it was great to meet MC, Ratty and Sapient Pearwood (and SP's famous sticky toffee pudding. And the gingerbread.... I think I'm going to have to be another adoptee...)

Also of course great to catch up with folk I had met before... I think the thudgame contingent got into double figures for probably the first time at a discworld event:
Our lords and masters Lee & Dewi were in attendence, as were druids Ponder, SANEAlex and myself. Terrifeegle, who I think we dragged on here, kicking and screaming, after the jamboree, had made it across from Ireland again, as well as the german contingent.

I spent most of the day just chatting aimlessly, and playing Dewi at every conceivable form of thud. I think this reveals the only way to get a full game with an Admin is to get them where there are no computers around for them to run off and fiddle with Wink

More maybe later - especially once the rest return from partying down in Somerset...

you are most welcome in our family Wink. *hugs her new brother* let's see, that makes... 9 members of our family on thud (11 if you count auntie cake and phaze).
anyways, hogswatch was awesome. i'm totally knackered, not only did we get little sleep during the weekend itself, sp's and my flight was delayed by 2h 40min and by the time we started we should already have been at home. it was past midnight when we finally got home...

One thing I must mention, is the world's best news headline... In the end I never got round to taking other photos - so I hope other people will add to that gallery.

I didn't kick and scream *too* much Smile And now that I've met so many lovely peopleses from these here parts, I shall endeavour to be around a little more.

Anyway, the point of this reply was to apologise profusely for not saying goodbye properly to you on Saturday - or saying hello properly either, come to think of it. You were engrossed in Thud when I came upon you, and I was far too hungover to do anything more than collapse in the nearest chair and moan weakly for coffee, so I didn't even do myself the honour of giving you a hug. So consider yourself hugged Smile It was lovely to see you, and I'll try to be a little more conversable next time!

Yeah, LOL! They'll be saying "Pensioner collects pension!" next Shocked

Sadly I've found there's a smudge on my camera lens and none of my pics turned out well Sad I hope others load up theres cause it was a superb weekend; especially the Thudgame get together in the Red Lion. By the way, we're booked in there again for next time which i understand is bank Holiday weekend in May (last weekend of May 2008). I'll put it on the Events Calendar when I have confirmation Smile

yes, of course. not too early, at 8.30 and i only had two hours of school. it was the first time that a shower in the morning did not wake me up. nor did the coffee for that matter :-S

is that the 24th/25th or 31st/1st? school starts again for me on the 26th, so the first one might be doable. looks bad for the 2nd one though...

erm, yep the cider wasn't exactly good...

oh-oh, it seems the teacher who's class i skipped to come to hogswatch knows i was in england. all i can do know is stick to the family reunion story (which isn't exactly a lie...) and hope he doesn't ask any more questions...

Re: Hogswatch 07

I WAS THERE! YAY! What a weekend! OMG!!!!! (and the Monday! And the Tuseday!) Wanna Hogswatch again! Again! Again! Again! Again!
It was the first time in my life i have seen so many insane people on one place!!! The proof of their insaneness is: Noboy ran away when someone swung a sword (dont look at me!) or a scythe... And it was soooo unbelivable great to meet all the thudders in (more or less) real life! And: I got my book singed! *worships signed book*
And i wanna see all the pics everybody made!!! The costumes were really really REALLY good! And all the things to buy!! And all the good food! And all the pints...oh no...*gets a bit pale*
Oh and i think it was the first (and probably last) time in my life i was happy to miss my flight home! had to stay with ponder and bwoohaha, was really funny!
...
I a word (or 2): DISCWORLDISH GOOD!!!
Thanks to Pterrys mum and dad and to lee and dewi and...*one hour later* thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
When is the next event and where?!?

To be fair, the not saying goodbye wasn't your fault - I slipped off half way through the hogfather's present giving at the end of the masquerade. Had to catch a train... But (as ever), hugs are gratefully accepted Very Happy

ok, i finally got round to get the pictures off the camera and on the computer. they're not many, because a)i kept forgetting my camera and b) because of the light most of them are either blurred or close to black. will go through them later, see what can be saved and upload them.
