Online Client ideas

Druid

HI,

Last night Ponder and myself were online and we had a bit of a brainstorm about the online client. Two things we thought would be really nice in the online client were
1. a time stamp of some sorts for posts, so when you were AFK for a while you can see how long ago it was since someone posted (not necessarily helpful in multichat, but when there's just a couple of you it tells you who's been active lately); and
2. private chats without the mandatory game window. Sometimes there's some serious "giraffe burning" going on in there. That's actually a SANEAlex quote, for when the chat gets really surreal. Discussions, or even remarks, fly off at opposite tangents when the chat is crowded, and if you would like to discuss something with one particular person you always need to open with "@user:" and still get distracted by other discussions. Private chat is possible, but you need to open a game to do that, even if you don't want to play.

Ponder pointed out (about #2) that that would allow more people to go private and not join the general discussion. But still.
Any thoughts, anyone?

I think I talked about possibly adding a time stamp many many years ago, still think it's a worthwhile addition.

Private chat I'm really not decided on - but then I havent been on the client in so long I've got no idea how many people we usually have on :-S
