For wandering Thudders and those who have live game/chat problems

For those who have problems getting the live game/chat running i have just tested a live Knoppix cd download from http://www.knoppix.org/ its version 5.1.1 and it seems to work out of the box so to speak i have booted a couple of my pcs with it and they will both run the live chat/game auto configuring themselves for internet access via the rj45 network socket using the DHCP on my ADSL router. If that sounds Greek (with or with out the r Wink ) to you it basically means that i can boot from the CD drive of virtually any PC (That allows booting from the CD) and it will run a version of the Linux operating system from the CD drive without changing anything on the PC this version will configure itself to run automatically setting up internet access if it can find it sound graphics etc. So this may be a solution for those who have problems getting the live game/chat area to work.

So for wandering Thudders this could also help for instance if you visit Auntie Mabel and she happens to be a grey surfer that does not like her settings messed with you could with her permission of course can boot up her PC with your live Knoppix cd play a game of thud chat with friends then shut down her PC and it will be as if it was never switched on.

I actually use the Knoppix CD for recovery of data from mangled PC's with a USB flash drive or even a USB hard drive it is a powerful tool and you can carry around your own virtual PC but its nice to know it works for fun things as well, it also has a version of Open Office the GIMP and can play mp3s and a large range of video formats out of the box.

I have found on some PCs that it has problems recognizing some sound cards also if you get blank screen on some laptops after booting its worth pressing f3 during booting and using the fb settings to choose a basic graphics setting. And i am not sure how well it will pick up USB modems for internet access.

...Oh! always try to look on the bright side...
... Um anybody got any marshmellows.?
