this is only an interesting observation with no real content. In the thud set, the thudstone has "trollish" and "dwarfish" RUNES* on the sides (along with english)
I in my curiosity, when inspecting these discovered that the "trollish" is actually Ogham and the "dwarvish" (similar if not same to what Tolkien used) is actually Futhark (old norse runes)
The dwarvish is: ᚦᚻᚢᛞ (sorry it's so small) which transliterates to ÞHUD the extra H is unnecessary as the norse had (and iceland still has) special characters for thorn and this called thorn and eth respectively. and the U would probably have sounded like the genram "Unter" not the englush Up but hey.
(for those of you who don't know Þ is called thorn. it makes the "Th" sound in words like thorn (thorn) thrall (slave) thing (meeting) all of which are norse words)
the ogham on the other hand is ᚇᚒᚆᚈ read right to left spelling TÚUD (the ogham had it appears neither H nor Þ)
so that's a bit of trivia for you.

Re: [SgtL] THUD RUNES
I didn't realize that the second set of runes was Ogham, but I noticed the Futhark ones. So there is at least "Thhud" engraved on the stone. I trust your translation of the Ogham runes, so I suggest that "Thhud" is ancient dwarvish.
I have not and will not check with Tolkien's Angerthas (which uses mostly Futhark runes) as he just copied the signs and used them at his own liking. Remarkable is in this context, however, that those runes were in Tolkien's work mostly used by dwarves. So I would take the Ogham ones for Troll's runes.
