What kind of music do you listen to?

what pray is folk metal? tsk dimmu borgir went down the path of singing in english...have some national pride!

I listen to many types of music. Back home the government had a de-facto classification system for "art"...the 3 T's, Türtt, Támogatott és tiltott (although there are double t's at the end you need not pronounce them as doubles) i.e. accepted, subsidised and banned. I am the same, I listent o music i officially advocate, music I'm officially neautrla with...and in weak moments, music I am ashamed of.

My main likes are: metal
I also listen to: gabber, some classical, some weird stuff, things like vannessa mae (if you don't know, you haven't lived) and some things like John butler, or KT turnstal and i can put up with better types of jazz/swing...take 5 is a good song, Bella fleck is good, al dimeolaand that ueber famous swing hit whose name i can;t rmemeber.

In weak moments I may even listen to rap (that's my like emergency stuff, i listent o it if im down or somethings just not right) or pop...incidently...Ricki lee's can't touch it, while misguided and hypocritical in the extreme contextually, is a passable song. Even techno.

so that's me, raised on good honest rock and some jazz/classical.

Folk metal is these ehm... "folky" riffs and melodies in a metal form (with double pedal, naturally). As far as I know, it is widely popular only in Finland. Some bands for example: Ensiferum, Finntroll, Moonsorrow.

Dimmu's later albums rock. The early are good too, especially Enthrone Darkness and För Alltid. The old stormblåst's sounds are just... wrong. För Alltid actually has better sounds. Besides, the drums are a lot better now that Hellhammer has joined in.

i listen to rock (my favorite in Linkin Park) i also like Jet =D

I like a lot of really random stuff. I merely object to chav and scremo music. And satanic stuff. And I'm sick and tired of Gamelan. And extended vocal music is only allowed if I'm drunk, which i never am. Deary me.

noo, dont talk to me about chavs (or neds) i just spent the weekend with my couzin, who is a major ned, (on educated delinquent(more common than chavs in bonny scotland))

They listen to "beats" and anything fiddled with by a DJ, to be honest.

Well i am mainly a metaller, fav bands being: Iron Maiden, Rammstein, Children of Bodom and Clutch. Clutch are very good bluesy Hard rock. I also listen to Jazz, Classical and some electro and Drum and Base. So i like most things really. except your RnB rubbish.

what's the story with clutch? they're somewhat...odd

The story? no scooby doo...all i know is THEY ROCK! would recommend them to anyone into rock/hard rock.

i still haven't figured out what exactly it is i listen to though there is definitely metal, rock, probably some hard rock, gaelic rock (i think it's called that) lots of movie soundtracks and musicals, some classic, some swing some of that ballad stuff whatever it's called and oh yes, some brass music. there's probably more but i can never think of them all.

don't ask, i have no idea. but for some reason i remember that term in connection with that band. i think a classmate might've mentioned it once. maybe because of the bagpipes. *shrugs* anyway, try "in extremo" and have a listen, most of it is really nice, me thinks.

I assume you mean scottish, and no, the irish (gaelic) are also famed for their bagpipes hence their predominance in things like police forces in the US where many ppl are irish. bt they are slightyl less "irishy" in the public eye

Currently i have been really getting into Doom and Funeral Doom Metal. it is so powerful and its sheer power is great.

The old Nightwish was at least ok, if not good. The new ain't. Even the song with only Marco Hietala singing is bad. Wasted potential says I.

Herman Li (Dragonforce) is bad live. False notes all the time. I don't understand your enthusiasm on guitar solos... In my opinion, the most important thing in music is the atmosphere, and nothing kills it like a guitar solo. This far I've heard total of 3 guitar solos which actually fit the song: Mayhem - Freezing Moon, Iron Maiden - Hallowed be Thy Name and Darkthrone - Graveyard Sl*t(you'd whine anyway).

Haven't heard a lot of doom metal, will listen to those bands when I have time.

i actually think that the old nightwish were good and original however i still really like the new songs and singer, i don't think that it is that original anymore but still, i love the lyrics and the music.

some have a meaning, some don't. some have a meaning, but it's not obvious. that's my opinion
