Sorry guys, but for several reasons we've limited the embedding options to youtube for now.

one really huge reason is that Esnips uses Flash to deliver their stuff and they apparently use the very latest Flash. Which isn't clever because it isn't available to some of our community. For this reason we won't include it in the embed whitelist. Accessibility always comes first.

ta lee, i was on the veerge of destroying my computer because of that. The whole copyright thing is interesting...surely if someones stuck something on the web, they cant expect to keep copyright totally enforced, also i would never claim summat was mine when it wasnt, thats just wrong. P.S. lee, take a look at the colour of magic blog.

But the thing is it isn't necessarily the copyright owner that's put it up on the web. It may be just someone who's ripped it off Sky+ in their bedroom. This can understandably upset copyright owners who worked hard and spent a lot of time and money to make the video or film or show. Now on the one hand the White Stripes vids are on their website thus saying they're fair game for someone to mirror as has been done on Youtube (caveat: they aren't pay-to-play, there isn't advertising or some other commercial reason why they have to be viewed from the White Stripes website - always remember that when embedding; just because advertising pisses you or me off or inconveniences us or your ethics, this doesn't cut any ice with the law! Other than during democratic elections, our opinions are irrelevant when it comes to what's legal and what's not.). Along those lines, fair warning: Other stuff like Family Guy, etc. isn't necessarily up there with permission so if Youtube gets served a DMCA takedown notice and the video gets taken down the node you uploaded might look a bit silly and obsolete. Just a thought...

Not saying you would. Just saying the law is a tricky place when it comes to property and it's important to be on the right side of it. Thudgame.com can't afford a lawsuit so it's important to think things thru with regards to how much you want a site to be here before going over the line on copyright, trademark and other intellectual property issues. Not saying you have but it's good to be careful for all our sakes

which means that anything on youtube /must/ be fare game since youtube will remove it if they get a DMCA order they'll cave in thus saving our arses [and it's arses ppl not asses!]

.....which sux 'cos I should have the ability to save anything i find on youtube regardless of the copyright holder (by definition only one level less evil than edison). hrumph.
