I found something called "postcount" in the account edit section. apparently, you can rank yourself from "visitor" to "postmaster", persumably according to the amount of your posting. what does it mean and what is it good for?

Re: Postcount
ah, yes, i saw that, too, when i explored my account. i had a look at it, couldn't see its use, forgot about it, found it again some time later and forgot about it again.

Re: Postcount
ah yes that. i thought it was an automatic thingy that ranks u by ur post avg / day (10.07 yay) but hang on i shall try to do it manually
.... intermission music .....
ok so i changed it and it now says postmaster on my page. if you click the hypertext link it sends you to http://thudgame.com/profile/profile_postrank/Postmaster whic lists the 4 postmasters (me, ook, oneiron and SA) the thing that got me was when i think it was SA declared himself a postmaster...i thought he was happy cos the system gave him the rank but meh. anywhoo what i dont get is y theres a special page "hidden" in your account just for this? surely they could have put it in wiht the other stuff?
Pstmstr-Sgt Lettuce or even post master-sergeant Lettuce...hehe i shall be PSL now cool.

Re: Postcount
This was for a software module we were going to use in a previous version of the site. We were taking pains to make the site upgrade look as much like phpBB as it did when using phpBB. We got pretty close but this was one of the things that never quite worked as advertised.
It was supposed to take information from the database, inserted it into a hidden field in the profile then inserted that into each person's posts along with other vital statistics like badges, memberships, etc. It doesn't have any function at the moment. It's on the road map to re-develop ourselves but the list continues to grow also.
Hope that helps

and once again the lines of communication have broken down. acronyms are only useful when talking to ppl who know what the hell ur on about. I am not one of those and i have a sneaking suspicion that many others here are also of the same persuasion

no, i think it's something cool they had, then moved the site, changed the code and never got to work again.
