I'm hoping to get down to the Cunning Artificer's place for the event over the weekend of the 3rd/4th of next month, but need to work out where to put myself overnight.
I've seen the list of places at artificer.co.uk, but being naturally lazy I'm trying to avoid ringing everyone on that list, so I wondered if anyone here has any experience I could draw on.
My only requirements are that it be
1) Possible to sleep there
2) Within an hour or so's walk of the Pearson's
3) Prefferably as cheap as possible (no teenager in the world has money, it's a proven scientific fact
)
Any ideas welcome, thanks
Mr Scrub

Hi
I might see you there...
I think most of the hotels/b&B's will probably be booked out by now.. the hogswatch gathering is very popular.
There are people camping.
there is a thread on the cunning artifactors forum its got a long list of accomodaion. But it does sound like wincanton is booked up the friday and saturday people were looking towards Castle Cary - where ever that is...
I'll pm a few people if you would like.
I believe the correct term is "Lawks". I had no idea of the scale of this beast... I may have to drop out of this one and plan better for a future date. Certainly a Big Think is in order.
Mr Scrub
EDIT: this doesn't mean that I'm not still interested in ideas. If nothing else they'd be useful for another time. However, it probably isn't worth your going to the trouble of PMing people on my account, Aine, considering the reduced likelihood of my getting organised at all...

I hope you don't mind... but I've copied you post to the other forum...
I'll see if any one there has any ideas...
I did find out that the campsite is 7 miles away so that would be that out.
One of the members of the other forum has offered to help people get sorted with accomodation and co-ordinate lifts... I was just going to PM her and see if she knew of any secrets...
I think the idea is to book early... there are people who have reserved next years already...

No, I don't mind at all. Thanks

Not neccessarily: I reckon I could walk that in an hour and a half, two hours max, so it's still a possibility.

I repeat my earlier "Lawks"... That's very serious

well the camping site is listed as
Long Hazel Caravan & Camping, Sparkford
7 miles West of Wincanton
There are others staying there. If you do decide to go let the owners know that you are down for the Hogswatch weekend and chances are you will be asigned a plot beside/told were the rest are camping. there is the possibility of lifts....
they seem friendly enough
