i dont think those words mean anything. in the clacks attached to the announcement scrub linked to theres a completely different ending. its probably just a type of code or something.

then it must have a purpose - maybe its for marking each clacks, like the letters and numbers on bills.

Coincidence be blowed - I should have checked this before I posted, but the letters from the clacks in the announcement are these

If you put exactly the same shift on those letters (move each one 13 places round the alphabet), you get "MR BROWN" - who of course is the master lockbreaker in Hogfather. I'd accept that one message having a hidden discworld character in it might be a coincidence/chance, but two different clacks having text that can be "decoded" (if that's the right word) with the same method to give a recognisable name seems like something else...

Well mine may have been a disctraction but the "But it tells no answers." makes me think of the "Twelve and a half percent" way of talking and that i am close to being correct if not all the way there. but then i have read the book several times actually starting with the manuscript. so has anybody else got clacks header info to share or are some of you hoarding the secrets?

I don't think the book holds the key - i.e. it isn't necessarily in Going Postal, or any other book but rather the content itself may be the key.

all this is based on JC's shifting coder isn't it?the one made in circular form?isn't it just a metter of finding out letter spacings?

We don't know what order they were sent in and an anagram of the above makes TIMS BBC but i some how don't think so especially considering how well he did in Wimbledon tho if we get a character name beginning in E we could have SMITE BBC but again i think its unlikely despite the SGNU's known use of a WOOODPECKER i doubt that using the clacks as a subliminal DOS on Auntie Beeb is really feasible or the SGNU's kind of thing at least it wasn't in my day tho i could be handing out blushing piscines if you consider my nickname and i have worn a horned helmet in public to confuse people into thinking in logic circles

It is in English or at least the Morporkian equivalent it is just also been ROT13ed if we made it to obvious it would not be a minor challenge to the little grey cells.

The 05:00 is actually -05:00 and it the time difference from GMT if I'm not mistaken. (I'd guess the servers are on the east coast of America?)
