German Discworld Convention 2009

this might be a little early, but are there any plans of when it's going to be yet? just the month would be a great help, because i'd really love to come, but it might collide with my abitur. and if it does, i better don't even start dreaming...

All I can say right now is: Summer 2009. The date will depend on the castle, Terry's schedule, Bernard's schedule, Lee's schedule, Dewi's...

German DW Con '07 was great, I still keep fond memories. If I hadn't been told by you lot, I would never have believed this was a first timer. You did a great job.
The only thing I can think of is that you might want to change the location of the bar to a larger room, that night when the two bands played it was packed beyond legal safety conditions, I'm sure.

That room was the only room where smoking was allowed by the youth hostel. (Which will be banned in Germany by 2009 I guess.) But it still is the only large room with a stone floor where we can savely give out large amounts of drinks.

The size of the room definitely is a problem. When doing the 2009 con in summer many people will spend their nights on the outside areal of the castle. But one band act in the bar room and people will form a crowd there again.

One solution would be to find a way that the bands can perform outside but that would ruin the cossy mood and experience showed us that such things keep attracting rain...

you'll find a solution by then, i guess. 2009 is a long way off....
summer is good, by then i'll have my abi, thus no more school, i'll have my drivings license (hopefully) and so won't have to take the train. and i can just wait with disappearing to china or nz or whereever until after the con. so don't you worry about my schedule *already gets excited*

As for feedback, it was lovely and cozy and by the end we felt like we knew most folk, at least by face, but you probably need another coupla hundred people there for budgetary reasons just so you have room to maneuver.

A late night disco with some classic goth or Madchester would find me writhing enthusiastically in the middle (wouldn't so much call it dancing... )

Hmmm, summertime.... gotta start hitting the gym hard and getting fit now; can't cover anythig up in bulky clothes and coats in the summer. I mean, there'll be vampyre chicks in skimpy gear around the castle.... Mmmmmmm....

Ah, nice to know the "god of inconvenient rain" isn't an exclusively British entity

I wouldn't count on the vampire ladies next time. We'll have a different theme (maybe AM, UU or Patricians Palace). But the ladies from the Guild of Seamstresses will be back for sure
