for most of us, if the reason for getting points were logged i think that would be an amasing waste of space on the site especially as if you actually want to extrapolate information form the data given you may as well divine it from pepples

The node here describes how you many points you get for doing various things my understanding is that you should only be penalised points if you do something wrong like spamming or your post is removed for other inappropriate behaviour i suggest that if you can replicate losing points by editing your own post then you should send a description of how it happens to Lee or Dewi at the usual place ie PM them.

Hmmm, there may be a couple of things that explain what happened. a) we upgraded the thudpoints module last night, and b) I set the thudpoints module to generate some actions when someone was referred to the site by one of you all (i.e. we thought it would give you points if a referred user registers via your referral page). There seem to have been unintended consequences to doing that so I've un-set one of the parameters. You should still get points if you refer someone.

If you've lost points PM me and I'll restore them with a bit of goodwill added on. We don't want people losing points on our account.

just happened to me, too. only that in my case it said Oograh Boike instead of admin (and obviously Ratdeath instead of Pinky).

Please let me assure you that I DO NOT EDIT POSTS, never, ever, unless it is along the convention we discussed in the Games section for Finished and incomplete games. And when I do that, I always leave a note at the end of first post.
The last time I did that was about two weeks ago, and your name does not seem to appear in the list of games I edited (see my post of wed, 11/07/2007 in node 443).
And wait!, come to think of it, I used an anonymous sock puppet username for doing those edits. So I'm 100% sure Oograh Boike did not edit any of your posts.

Please excuse my somewhat overexcited reaction, but I take this very seriously. I have a name and reputation of which I'm very proud to uphold here, so with your permission I'm going to ask Lee to look into this, because this HAS to be a site glitch.

OB it got nothing to do with you editing something, i think this just happens when one of use normals or may be
librarians is editing something we wrote, while one of you druids or sidegods is locked in.

don't worry, i know you didn't do anything. i edited my own comment and got that. it probably just chose some random name, in pinky's case "admin" and in my case you. for some reason...

it's still happening and this time i checked. it doesn't only say so, OB really gets a point everytime i edit a comment. and i really do lose one.

and admin keeps earning points on my back! sould we move this to the conspiration theory topic?

oh yes!! druids taking advantage of poor users who don't want to spam the site and instead use the edit button when they forget something...
