A new story competition.

plus we have quite a few new people so it could be most awesome and there is the issue of the points

decent. well i was talking to hexon at school today and he was saying about the story competition on this and there has not been one for ages. he said only drewids can make them. will you be making it angua.

Well we would have to ask Lee and Dewi if it would be ok to do another Story comp because we would need to do stuff etc, we would need to find enough people to do it hopefully more than last time! erm, but i think it would be cool, i would be happy to help run it

i think i could get a few of my boffin freinds to write a story and sign up tto thud. begging ussually helps. oh....by the way......... do you think you could award extra thudpoints to people if the advertise on sites and prove they have by sending them the link or when somebody signs up as a result of me or somebody else they could mention the persons usernames. just an idea.

im not sure if we need a theme, we didnt last time i dont think because you could get more ideas if you could write about anything, or somthing like that

yeh last time ther was 2 teams and ther was supposed 2 be 4 in each team but for some reason 2 of our teams members just ignored me and darbz and didnt do anything so we only had 2 people,

just a quick tip: last time we wer very very rushed and i think this wasnt jus because the time span we wer given but because of personal time restraints, for example i have recently finished secondary skool and have 10 weeks until college so i have bundles of time oozing out of my earholes but someone with a lot of work such as a violin tuner or cat massager will not have lots of time,

so in short we must make the teams even in how much time each person has and make sure the people will actually take part and if they dont we need a few back-up people that could replace them if they decide 2 disapear,

yay,go team sto lat!!or were we team sto helit??can't remember,and you're right angua,was 4 in each team.my bad.so let's start by saying whoever wants to join send a pm to [who's going to organise this?]...ok,send a pm to me.it'll take 2 more days if we don't get this started soon.

argggghh,just realised i'm going away on friday till the 16th,dunno how long it'll take to set this up,but if i'm not here in time then do it without me.

weeeell i think.....we could start it when you get back, maybe the 17th so we have plenty of time to get everything ready, i think ponder is wanting to run it like last time if i want to be part of a team, but i still need to talk to him, i think we should post on here anyone who wants to be in it, however they would need to be able to post regualary throughout the story and not go walkabouts and not come back for ages, i think we need to be able to get an idea on the numbers before we get properly sorted.

Also there is one prob PMing ook is that we wont be able to know if anyone wants to play after ook is on holiday, so maybe just post on this forum in big bold letters or possibly PM me because i am alas not going on holiday

Also i think we need to know if we are going to do orders in when you have to write like we did last time, because that did cause some problems with people not being on in agges, however that may cause problems becuase someone may be part of a team and not post but that team wins meaning they get points for nothing.

Also i quite like the idea of people writing there own storys insted or part of a group, but im not quite sure how that will work, hmm, or maybe pairs but i suppose that would also mean that we dont need to many people but takes some of the fun out of writing in a group and being part of a team. But of course we want loads of people to do it cos it is most fun.

i think if we have teams 4 is a good number however it depends on how many people wants to do it.

right i think thats everything now i have a headache i think this is my longest post, go me.

yup, it's pretty long. i basically agree with everything you said. I reckpn another problem with teams is that sometimes you just might not get along with (some of) the people in your team and that wold ruin everything, including the story. i could help organising if you want, i'll be going to school even though I don't have to but I won't really have to work, so I got a bit of time on my hands.
anyway, i'm in.

i reckon we shuold have points for first place, pints for second and third. i will be in a pair with Hexon cuase we can have the story one night each becuase we go to the same school. we are only 14 so go easy on us judges. this is sssooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo exciting.

easy, man. we haven't even decided what exactly to do yet. a bit of patience please, this is like politics: decisions usually take a loooong time

arighhhhht. when it is decided and organised will you mak a new thread or blog with the rules and genres. this is a big topic.and it takes ages to get to the bottom.

nah, it's tiny. "more words than you can shake a dictionary at" is long. can you imagine how long it took me to get to the end? up to the momnt when I finally discovered the "last page" button.... :-S

Im in. and beware all those on the other team, for i have once written a story all by myself. indeed. its was called "the dog that sat on the rug", and it was about a dog that sat on a rug. Aha!

we have teams (depending on how many people we get) no more than 4?

i think we should have random teams from a hat or sock as ook said... and if you get someone you dont know or get along with...tough basically you will be in the same group and you are all trying to win.

erm...also i dont think we should have a theme but a starting sentence like last time because that worked well...

i think thats all i can think of at the moment, i will make a list erm....wednesday of all the peoples names i have so far that would like to take part and we can go from there

Has anyone had any thought about the new story compotition. Is it going to be a blog and how long do we have to do it.

last time we posted on blocked forums so other teams couldn't see what we wrote,we'll probably do that again

yeah, that was good. otherwise curiousity would have killed me. i mean, it did so anyway, but at least that way i couldn't do anything about it.

Curiosity kiled the cat, but the satisfaction brought it back to life. Then the cat did it again. it took 9 rounds for it to figure out what was going on, but by then it was late. or too late, dependes how you look at it.

i realy think we should choose our own teams, then we could make much better stories!!!

and the time limits shouldnt be as strict as last time as then the stories get rushed and are not very good

but then we'd have little factions of people who see each other all day preparing the most ultimate of stories,whereas people stuck on the bottom of some continent won't be able to communicate at that level.

good point. but they already decided that we can do it alone, in pairs or in groups with a max of 4 people and we can choose the people we can work with.

My fault there. We've had inclement coding showers and bad Internet weather (though not as bad as Scrubby out West! ) so there's been a slight delay.

Ook was correct that we'll do it in closed groups again (so to speak ) and present the final product after a couple of weeks (so no fannying around wasting time talking about it group number "you'll-know-who-you-are when we select groups!")

One last thing: this time there will be judges. Professional judges. People who have put pen to paper and been paid for doing so (No, not that person - even we aren't THAT influential! ) will be choosing the winner(s). This is mainly coz we don't want to go monitoring voting again as it's tedious but also so that some professional scrutiny can be applied to the process.

Hopefully that will sharpen wits and focus minds

I think we need to set a final date for the groups i think erm *tries to work out what day it is...*....*gives up and looks on a calendar* wow is it tuesday?! ahem, sorry about that, i think that all entrys for the groups should be in by sunday, so we can get the story cometition on the way
