The system caches a static version of most pages and holds them in that form for a few minutes to speed the site up. Since our pages are cobbled together from a database every time they're loaded this speeds things up but the caching means it can look as if you are logged in twice. If you watch, though, you should see the "second you" disappear after a few minutes. Wink

Yeah, Dewi has been considering modifying the system such that only one person can reg as a username. For example, someone can register Sam Vimes, someone else SamVimes and someone else Sam_Vimes. Each would be individual but it would be confusing. We will almost certainly change the system so that only one Sam Vimes would exist and other variations would be rejected at registration. When someone inevitably tries it on we admins would tell the person that then registers Sam V!mes that they have to change their name or we will do it for them.

What do you all think?

Sounds sensible enough. I always feel awkward when mistaking some people for someone other. With similar names on the forum, I fear that might happen to me. And a character like a dash might be overread to easily.

Or already at the creating of the account:Assumed we have a "Fred Colon" here.
Can't it change so nobody can build his account with "FRED COLON"," FrEdCoLon","fredcolon","FRED_COLON","FrEd CoLoN" and so on.. ?
