For Thudding's Sake! Traditional Thud Multiuser game (incomplete nov 07)

Ok I thought of a game ("Not another one"). I am fairly sure somone else must have done this alrdy, if so please feel free to admonish me and send this thread to thread heaven.

Otherwise...

Its very simple like the 1vs1 thud game on the forum except anyone can make a move. (It should be a valid move - Lets say for the time being using classic thud rules).

(Edit: it's a cool idea! I'm surprised no one's thought of it first - correct me if my memory does me a disservice - but I'm moving this to the Forum Thud section as it's really forum thud even if we all play. Do have fun, all! Very Happy
- Lee)

So the first move is: D: J15 - H15

edit by Oograh Boike: savegames for this and other Multiplayer Games can be found at Oograh Boikes Multiplayer Games Page.

edit by administrator, apr 10, 2008: added (incomplete nov 07) to the topic. This addition and this edit can and will be removed by request of topic-starter. Please send a PM to any administrator, preferably Oograh Boike, for help with that.

Once, a long long time ago in a valley far far away there used to be a site called thudgame.com Mark One. Things were slow back then, only a couple of active users who came and went. Like KennySue for instance, I haven't had the pleasure of playing with him because he (she?) had left before I joined. But he started a game like this, and it made it to a couple of moves before it died.
If even Lee didn't know that, I'm sure Alfred can be granted the "Original Idea-award" Wink.
So instead of a move I'm going to give this a *bump* upwards in the list, because it IS a good idea, and I would really like to see where this is going.

On another note, I don't think I've said hi to Alfred yet, so Hi! and Welcome! Maybe I can get you interested in my site, which is sorry to say hopelessly outdated at the moment, because of lots of work remodeling the house and stuff, but will be updated in a few weeks. Please see my signature for the link.
You can even find a couple of games from the above-mentioned period in my "archive". Puccio's and Marc's were particularly good, at least that's what I felt when I was a newbie back then. Note to self: need to review some of those old games again, they were fun.

Happy Thudding!

Thanks for the all the encouragement everybody!

I'm not going to post a move as that would destroy the point of this, but here is the game so far:

My apologies oh wise one of the ages Wink - that was definitely before my time! Shocked

OK, maybe not entirely before, per se... I think I joined, posted once and checked back a few times but when our online applet got put on ice we kinda did other things for awhile but, yeah, nice to see the great ideas coming back (and nice to know there are those who can remind me of what I didn't know from back in the day! Very Happy )

Right. Now where's my numbered board.... Laughing

You were there??!! Aw, why didn't I know back then, we could have had a nice game, or chat or whatever. What was your nick back then? Maybe I remember, though I doubt it, it's been a while hasn't it?

But anyway, I need someone to keep track of this game so I can put it on my site once it's done. Alfred, do you use ThudBoard? Can you send me the saves? Or anyone else?
Or! If this is going the way it is going now, I could put the saves up on my site every few days, to help players who would like to join so they don't have to copy every move but get a save up to a certain point. Do I still make sense?

I could do it myself, I hear you saying, but I'm still a bit busy at home. Two more weeks, I guess, and I will be able to get back in business.

I have a ThudBoard record of the game so far and I already sent it to you.
I try not to forget to send you updates as the game continues.

Thank you Elerias (and Alfred). The game is on my site, on opening page in the news section. I think I'll leave it there for the time being, I don't think my site has a section for mulitplayer games yet Laughing.
I hope I will be able to join soon.

I think if you paste this into notepad and change the extension to thud and you can use it with thud board:

Re: D6

Bronze MemberDruid

Yes, that's indeed the code for the thud-savegames. But I don't think that it is very useful to post the complete savegame here.
After all, it's only the last line that changes.
I think we should keep this the traditional way and only post the next move. Those who keep track themselves can easily add that move to their games and all the others can update via OB's site. I try to keep him updated every few moves.
Or was it something other you wanted to say?

The save on my site has been updated, thanks to Elerias.
Alfred, using colons (the : ) in your notation prevents people from copy-pasting to ThudBoard. Did you know you can also use TB to copy-paste to and from here? Use the little "clipboard" and "double pieces of paper" icons to the right of your last move. I hope that helps.
