Not something I've noticed before, and I expect many people haven't, but if you fail to enter anything in one of the two fields on the login page, you're taken back to that page with the field you missed ringed in red, and a red border around a message at the top, saying "Username filed required" (or "Password field required", of course). The only trouble is that this message is in black text on a black background...
EDIT: just logged out to confirm this, and it does indeed also happen when you enter your details into the unsecured homepage fields.
