copyright for discworld

Discworld is i believe Trademarked along with with the books being under copyright. My understanding is that pTerry is very tolerent of things that come under fanart but that if for instance you ran wizzard.co.de and tried selling Rincewind Dresses to the public as official discworld merchandise then that would be a big no no. Using it to say that you are a big fan of discworld and here are my other interests i would think would come under the fanart side if you are still worried you could email his agent Colin Smythe I think i provided a link in another thread to his site which has contact details but if you cant find it google is your friend.

Basically as long as you're not trying to make money on it you'll be fine. It would be a fan site. If you wanted to make money on it you'll have to have a contract with PTerry (thus you'll have to turn 18 yrs of age first as a minimum ), but to do a site saying you're calling it wizzard coz you're a fan of Terry Pratchett should be fine.

nochdazu, "wizzard" isn't sucha Pterry icon that people would notice if you did, i mean you could just say it's a variant on the english word. He can't own tye word wizzard because of prior art type laws.

in that case it's "a person" not people but i don't bring up suff like that cos it's an easy mistake, but i know from my parents for instance whose english is not as good as mine that there are few things more annoying than doing something worng and no-one telling you about it and then you never fix your mistakes, and you get to, too and two wrong quite a lot.

even though Mr Wizzard makes mistakes, you have to admit he aint half improved! way back when the young lad started it was very hard to understand - but now its quite easy! well done wizzard! have a pat on the back from me. And constructive criticism (see even i cant sell!) is always good!
