i think u wil find i suggested the thudgame awards (i may not have named it that) around the time i first joined the site!!!

ponder is stealing all my thunder, damn you!

only joking, i dont reli mind, if you wouldnt mind giving me 1000,000,000 thudpoints as compensation that wud be fine.

i think if sum1 could be arsed then you would find MY idea of the thud awards sumwer, i started it as a forum topic but it never took off.

ponder may have actually had this thought before me or not even seen my forum so he probably did think of it aswell

I think the druid and founder and admin banners are a bit much, couldn't there just be some smaller nondescrips sigils or shields or coats of arms or something the banner messes with the feung shui of the thing. They're so big and obtrusive

Well after taking a lot of thought over this i belive there should be award for a girl called angua....*looks around* oh that would be me!! :- D anyway...

In terms of the "best player" awards, it'd be pretty difficult to come to a decision, wouldn't it? Presumably nobody on the site has played everyone else, and even if they had, they might not get an all-round view of the player's ability from one game. So, I hear you suggest, why not review OB's saved games. That's great, but at the moment there are 17 players included in his rankings - I guess there'd again be many people missed out because either they dont know about it, or chose not to submit save games to OB. And if you did use his site, then the "best all-round player" would logically be the one at the top of the table, which takes something of the mystery out of the award ceremony

With all necessary humility, let me say that Mr Lipwig is indeed correct. Ponder and I had this conversation on skype in March so Mr L does indeed deserve the kudos!

(gotta watch those Druids with pointy sticks; who was recently saying power corrupts? Pinky? Edit: sorry, it was pseudohedgehog! )

So, anyway, a sum of points to Mr Lipwig for a superb idea. Fortunately for Ponder, he's redeemed himself by coming up with another original idea we shall be doing very soon as well. OK, not entirely original, but like the best ideas it's got a little tweak to it we liked!

In answer to my own earlier question, I guess in the process of discussing the awards or however it works everyone would mention the player that they felt had done best, and would then have a save game or (possibly) a live game number to point to.

I think we could do with some fonts.

we have the three basic modifiers: b u i
why not have say helvetica, shelly and some other one.
and also maybe 3 font sizes to play with

if it casn handle greek and russian characters why not another font. shouldn't be too hard.

P.S. I don't think I can write mathematical formulae here yet. tsk tsk tsk.

anyone could make proposals for nominees with arguments for his opinion. then we should have a handful of nominees for each category and each user should be able to vote in each category or in the categories he is not nominated.

what if you can PM say OB and if n ppl PM him then he'll look into it...but i still think it won't work

we should clearly have some kind of poll where everyone can vote on particular nominees

admins and druids sounds like a plan to meee

ye that would be reli good to have admins and druids selecting nominees as they are very familiar with the site however i think the members of the site should have a bit of a say in it aswell,

perhaps if the druids and admins selected nominees then posted their decision somewhere and the members could comment if they think anyone should be added the lists or taken off

i think,like mr l said,we should have a dual choice of nominated people,first the druids and admins select nominees for a category and then open it to suggestion,based on a number of nominations by users to add to that list,say 5-10 to add someone to a list.

or, ppl can let them chose but we have the right to alter the list with enough popular support

that's basically what i was saying,but you're just working it both ways.
