I'm sure I saw someone log in, and even post replies to regular games, without posting moves in ITT07 games...
Let me try to help. If you cannot see your games in the right hand menu, you should look for them in "Go to the forums" --> "Forum Thud!" (click "latest reply" to bring them to first page).
The "Latest Forum Topics" menu on the right ---->
only shows the latest five. I posted twelve games, so some of them will not show in "Latest Forum Topics".

"Forum Thud!" is where you have to look for ITT07 games!

it saddens me but i cannot play in this tournament this year

Some very interesting questions concerning the 24 hour rule and the points loss if you don't post in time arrived by email.

Let me try to answer them in here, like I did to the person who asked them.

1. If we agree on a date for a live game, do we still have to continue the forum game untill the moment for the live game arrives?
A: Yes, you do. Suppose something goes wrong (one of you gets sick, or loses internet connection, whatever) and you can't play the live game. If you stopped posting moves in the forum game, you are now facing a huge problem. You can continue in forum, but will lose points because you didn't post in time. The rule is as much about getting good games in ITT07, as it is about protecting you from getting bad or botched ones.

2. If we agree on a date for a live game, stop posting or post late in forum, and play a live game that goes as planned, do we still lose the points for posting late in forum?
A: Yes, you do. Technically (see above) your forum game was still in effect before you started the live game. If you post late in forum before you start the live game, you therefore will lose points from your score. Whether that be a score from live or forum game.

It all comes down to this: untill the moment you agree and post a score, you have to stick to the 24 hour rule in forum or lose points if you do not. Agree and post a score, and you do not have to post anymore.
Scores! I want to see scores! Untill then: moves! I want to see moves!

The day before yesterday I sent out an email to all players in ITT07 asking for savegames, and I got a staggering two (2!) answers. Which means --read the rules if you don't believe me-- we can can go straight into Finals tomorrow, because everyone else is disqualified.

Nah, just kidding. Please, all players should send me saves by april 4, 21:00 BST.

To Mr Scrub and SANEAlex: thank you for the saves. However, my TB suddenly seems to have trouble starting, so I can't check games for integrity and scores. I sent an e-mail to Mc, hoping he can be of help. Tomorrow, I hope, I can update the site with new, and checked saves.
Sorry about all this, I'm sure I tried everything, even re-installing.

Below is a comment I have posted in all three games in which Palm was playing:

We're still trying to decide how to deal with this, and how to soften the impact this has to ITT07. As soon as I know, I will let you know.

I suggested making all Palm games "resigned" and not scoring any of them. I haven't had word yet from thudgame central, but since I am head referee, and I seriously can't think of any other way but this, I am going to do it.
So, the site has been updated with two finished games (Mr Scrub vs Elerias and Yato vs SANEAlex), and a resignation for Palm. A couple of other updates as well.

BUT: it wasn't ThudBoard that went wrong (see two posts ago; thank you Mc for your quick reply) but Python. And I can't get it to re-install . So a couple of updates on ongoing games might have a different score that what my page says, because I couldn't check the games. If there is a difference, the saves itself are most up to date!
I'm going to try to get Python working again tomorrow, and if that fails I am going to move my entire account with HD mirror of my site and games to another computer.
Sorry about all this, it is most inconvenient, even more to me than it is to you, I can assure you....

Anyway, my Thud account has moved to my desktop, and I can check games again. Not that I needed it desperately, I still have only updates from Mr Scrub (on the site, posted a few minutes ago).

Riiight, that's more like it. Heat One is updated to approx an hour ago. Thank you, players.
A note: someone sent me a gamesave with a couple of moves that had not yet been played/posted. They assumed an answer by opponent, and had a reply ready. Highly strategic insights, and I don't think you'd want that online.
I only noticed because as chance had it, I had the same forum game open in another window. I deleted the strategic plans. The player was lucky, this time.
I DO NOT normally check games against their forum counterpart, I'll leave that to you and your opponent. I only check them to get scores, and for integrity.
If any of your strategic plans end up on my site, it's your responsibility, not mine.
It's an easily made mistake, and anyone could have made it. Be warned!

Heat two is completed, and updated on my site. SANEAlex and Ercharmion will go to next round.
Heat one still has all but one game going on. Just one more day people!
Because of my job (and the shifting of starting date; I had it planned to avoid this:) I can not update the site tomorrow. Immediately after closing I need to get to bed --should already be in it, as a matter of fact.
Update will be around 16:00 BST on thursday, new round starts 23:59 BST same day.

First of all, big congratulations to the folk going thru from the First Round! You've done very well and can pat yourselves on the back and we wish you all luck on the next Round! Commiserations to those not going thru and we know you did your best. You were up against the best Thud players in the world so there is no shame in not going thru!

The big announcement I need to make, though, is that Dewi and I have a bit more work to do on the site upgrade therefore we've asked OB to hold off on starting Round 2 until Sunday evening at the earliest. Fortunately this appears to sync with his work pattern and should give us enough time to close down the site, load up the new stuff, configure and tweak the database and works out the kinks and bugs before Sunday night. It will be along weekend!

We will put the site into maintenance mode (after which only admins can log in) to do the work. We would normally hold off on this until a less busy time but the performance of the existing site has gotten to be a real annoyance from several standpoints and we felt it needed to be fixed sooner rather than later. Therefore check back on Saturday afternoon and as soon as we're happy that it's gone well and usable we'll turn it back on.

As per any project like this there will always be unforeseen bugs and "features" (as Mr Gates-the-3rd's crew like to say ) so we would be ever so grateful if, when you notice something that seems amiss, you could report to the usual place

All games in Round One have been locked.
The Patrician told his opponents he would like to continue the games some other time, outside of ITT07. That's the spirit! I was hoping for something like this, and it has been mentioned in the earliest versions of the Rules.
If you would like to continue, you will have to do so in a new thread. Please use a topic that distinguishes it from regular ITT07 games (suggestion: "cont'd Player1 vs Player2, ITT07 R1 Heat x" or something like that), and if you link to or mention the ITT07 part in initial post you don't even have to replay those moves.

Anyway, like Lee said, the site gods need some time to update the site and debug it, so ITT07 will be continued this Sunday. At 23:59 BST I will start making new topics, and Round Two will start.

A few moments ago I started the new topics for ITT07 Round Two. Good luck to SANEAlex, Ercharmion, Mr Scrub and Elerias.
Round Two will last another two weeks, so it will be closed and scored at sunday 29th, 23:59.
To wrap ITT07 around my work schedule, and maybe have some time to set things up, the (semi-)Finals will start on monday 30th, 23:59 and will last yet another two weeks. So all of you should look forward to four weeks of intense Thudding, with only a days rest.

A couple of updates on my site. SANEAlex vs Elerias seems to be finished on live client, waiting for saves. As soon as I get them I will put them online.

edit: if you sent some saves, and they don't show on my page, it could be that the server is down again. SANEAlex helped me test, and one of the e-mails he sent me was nearly two hours late to arrive. If I'm at the computer, and there are saves in my inbox, I always put them online immediately. So if yours aren't there, they probably haven't arrived yet. Sorry....

And so the Second Round finished. The last game to be scored, Ercharmion vs Elerias, was still ongoing but we need to stick to the allotted time.
Unless you are the Referee, obviously . I am very busy at the moment, and asked all players if they would mind if I postponed the start of (Semi-)Finals with one day. No one objected. So start of (Semi-)Finals is tomorrow, instead of tonight, at 23:59 sharp.
SANEAlex and Mr Scrub made it to Finals, and Ercharmion and Elerias will have to decide who's going to be third.

Right, now I have to rush back downstairs; still a lot of work to do! See ya tamorra!

Rrrriiiight.... In exactly two weeks from now (may 15, 23:59 BST or earlier if they decide to play online) we will know who will be The 2007 International ThudMeister!
Mr Scrub? He had the most points in Round Two, but he lost to SANEAlex. SANEAlex? He won every game in Round Two, but two of them were with only 1 point, plus he only made second in Round Two.
And who's going to be number three? Ercharmion has the best cards for that one, but I'm sure he still remembers that one single move can decide an entire game .
This is going to be a very interesting (Semi-)Final, I'm very excited about this one. I'm going to try to keep you updated every few days.

The games topics have been posted, my site has been updated to accommodate the (Semi-)Finals, all we need now is for them to open the games. Good luck to all!
