Hi,
This is a standard post. This is one game of Round One, Heat One of The International Thud Tournament 2007. Please see the topic line for who should be playing in this game. Good luck to both!
You should be playing two other games as well, as opponent to the two remaining players in your heat. Please find the other ITT07 threads that have your name in the topic line! And good luck with them as well.
Let me try to give a short list of the most important rules:
- Oograh Boike is referee for all ITT07 games, with Lee as a backup;
- this is not the only game you should be playing in this heat;
- immediately after this has been posted, the game starts;
- this game has to be standard rules and double unlimited;
- the 24-hour rule states that either one of you has to reply to this topic within 24 hours after first post[ *] with a first move;
- within 24 hours after first move, the opponent has to reply with his or her moves;
- within 24 hours after second move, first player has to reply, and so on and so forth;
- failure to comply with the 24 hour rule will result in loss of one point[ **] in first six hours after the deadline expires, another point loss in second six hours, and so on, untill another 24 hours have expired and the player who did not respond will be disqualified;
- the 24 hour rule stands untill both players agree on a score, whether that be the result of this forum game or an online game;
- this game will be closed and scored on april 11, 23:59 BST, finished or not. Next round will start the day after that.

[ *]I can't post several threads at the same time, so I started fairly early. Please consider this thread to be posted at 23:59 BST, march 28. Some of you will have a little more time than others, but all of you will have at least 24 hours.

I dont suppose, given that you're in America, that there'll be any time when we can have a live game, will there? I'm on school holiday from saturday, so I can fit round you to a certain extent. I suppose it depends on which way the time difference falls.

Weelllll...the problem is, I don't do so well on the client. Since I can't play there much, I get a little rattled. Especially with high stakes such as these ! !!!!

Just an idea, mind you, but if Mr Scrub is on school holiday next week, maybe you could decide to plan a few hours where you would be in here and post a lot of moves in one day. It doesn't affect the 24 hour rule --that still stands until you agree on a score--, but it could give the game a boost.

Well, no. Technically, it's bang space bang bang bang bang. I can't help it if the site gods have no sense of graphic impact.
So, that's fine with me. The best time for me is morning, like 9-12, so that's like...er...3 to 6 p.m., or possibly 2 to 5. The government pulled a fast one and started daylight savings three weeks early this year, so I'm all messed up.

For me it's the other way round - playing live I concentrate much better. However, forum games are standard, so since live would be changing to give me an advantage, I can understand why it makes sense to stay on forum
I'm quite happy with a few hours of heavy forum posting, and that timeslot sounds fine, too - tho when I've got a little more time I'll need to check what the exact time difference is so that we get it right.

My researches suggest that you are on British Summer Time, and I am on Eastern Daylight Savings time. If that's true, you are five hours ahead of me.
So Monday looks good, 9 to 1 or so. So that would be 2 to 6 your time. Probably running into dinner.

I'll get back to you on that - I think it sounds a good plan, but right now I cant confirm it, since I'm posting from a public library 30 miles from home... I dont even have a thudboard or pieces, I'm just staring at a drawing I made on an old bed sheet, and imagining it. I think I must look pretty weird to those around me

And I'm sorry I'm a wimp about playing on the client. It's not playing in real time, so much, although that's part of it. But being used to thudboard, I have a really hard time with the semi-horizontal view in the client. I get convinced I'm missing something, and I get all rattled. If they ever implement the top-down view, which they keep threatening to, I'm sure I'll be able to use it.

It's not a problem - I know I missed quite a few things the first time I played on there, so I certainly wouldn't recommend your first live game being one that really mattered...
(I feel like I'm doing nothing but complaing about your first-game moves, but according to my thudboard I don't have a dwarf on C10. I'll check back through the thread in a moment)
